New Everton Stadium

Hopefully we will know more at the AGM? Or perhaps it will be more Elstone stadium bingo 'financial jigsaw' 'Everton and partners' 'healthy progressive conversations' 'optimistic' 'cooperation' etc.
We should set up an AGM drinking game for the predictable nonsense that will come out.

I actually love the fact I can look from my seat in the main stand across to the bullens road/gwladys street and so very little has changed from way back to the 1930's,the Archibald leitch design,it's magic, and no I'm not taking the Mickey,I'm deadly serious!
I agree. Sometimes Goodison is magical. I can't help but stare around the ground and smile. But then i go to away games at League One Barnsley and see they have more boxes than us and i can't help but shake my head in disbelief at how we've simply left the ground as it is.

Nostalgia is a great thing and so is keeping tradition, BUT...this is a business and if making Goodison modern and taking away the old feeling to the ground then so be it. I'd like to see us progress as a club.

I'd like to see us win things again, i'd also like to see us in a new stadium. I fear i'll never see either again with the current board.

I'm 28.

You would have to buy approx 350 houses, excluding the school. At current valuations of approx 70k it would cost about 25 mill just to purchase. Then demolition and landscaping. Not cheap befor anything done to the stadium.

Have you ever lived near Goodison Park ? Sh*thole of the highest order. Trust me I live near there myself. I wouldn't pay £7k never mind £70k :bye:

Yes, I was from Rice Lane area. The prices quoted in previous replies contradict you personal view. Must be worth more just to be able to look up at the majestic main stand as you leave your house.

To give you an idea of the value of homes in the area; a chap I know who works at the club said that the land that Goodison sits on is worth around £1m. With it being worth so little (in the grand scheme of things) they would actually give the land back to the City should we move.

I know a new stadium would be the preferred solution, but is there no way we could rebuild the main stand, and if needs be, rebuild the Park End? The Bullens and Glwadys St stands could be left as is (with maybe an interior makeover to make it a bit nicer), and perhaps an extended Main Stand might only need to result in the demolition of a handful of houses to broaden it a bit.

What are the real drivers behind a new stadium? Is it to increase capacity and revenue? Or is the present Goodison decaying and no longer fit for purpose? If the former, then I'm sure a rebuilt main stand could give us a lot more scope for boxes and increase capacity by a few thousand.

I'm certain that Goodison could be renovated to fit what we needed done, whilst still maintaining some of it's historic features.

Doubt it will happen under this board though.

The views are magnificent it must be said, all those grey panels delicately placed upon the grand old lady are rivalled only by scenery from millionaires paradises such as Monaco, Paris and Rome. lol

Just having a look at a satellite view of GP on google maps, and it's very interesting to see the lay of the land around the ground. With the removal of less than 20 properties on Goodison Rd, minor redirection and conversion of Goodison Road to a narrower pedestrianised street, you could easily make a much improved Main Stand at minimal impact to the area.

Probably more scope on the bullens end side IMO, even if you just took the land that the Bullens Road currently occupies and converted that to the Stadium while shuffling the Bullens Road over just a bit, you'd lose maybe 10 houses and the car park for the school.
Expansion of that to provide corporates and or another tier would be quite significant IMO. Then the Park End could be expanded likewise e.t.c.

Are you proposing lifting and dropping the Bullens Stand? I'm all up for retaining historic parts, but if we're gonna move Bullens, I'm afraid I'd be looking at demolishing it and building something more fit for human occupation.

Looking at the aerial view, removal of the two streets next to the school (and the school itself) would leave a very large footprint to build a new stadium, but that's already been quite heatedly discussed in this thread. I reckon a new main stand would have the least impact on the area.

Nope, just expanding the Bullens backwards onto the Bullens Road, so adding depth to the bullens. Rush diagram obvs, black arrows are where the stand would be extended back to, black line would be the new Bullens Road cutting through only a few houses and the school car park.
