New Everton Stadium

Statement from Mayor Joe Anderson: Everton FC Stadium Development
The city council and Everton FC are still engaged in discussions about plans to develop a scheme at Walton Hall Park. I am disappointed that at this stage we have not reached agreement on a tangible proposition for a new stadium and, more importantly, a scheme which delivers comprehensive regeneration benefits for the area and employment opportunities for the wider community.

It has been over 12 months since my initial announcement and I recognise the level of public interest in this site. I would like to thank people for their patience whilst discussions are ongoing and I will look to make a final announcement in the new year.

I reiterate my commitment that any scheme brought forward, which has my support, will represent the best interests of residents and supporters alike.

Mayor of Liverpool

That's good of him to make a statement about there being a further statement in the new year.

Statement of intent right there.

Sounds to me like we have proposed plans but they've been laughed away. Probably because they were bargain bucket [Poor language removed] ideas.

Sounds fairly negative to me anyway, more or less telling Everton to come up with something firm by January or he's pulling the plug.

Making a decision on a stadium is a bit like choosing which beautiful woman to make love to.

Do you go for a nice trim new model that you can get inside for as long as you can manage, or do you just give The Old Lady a bit of a facelift and keep going in there like you have since your teens.

This is what I reckoned would happen at best in an earlier post.
Read what you will into it, but the optimist in me would like to think that LCC are waiting to see what happens regarding a possible take-over.

I think you are probably right. I think that maybe those talks have dragged on without enough progress being made and the council are ramping up the pressure to come to a conclusion, positive or otherwise.

If the proposal was dead in the water, I think the council would exit the stage now.

I expect that the absence of Bill Kenwright in recent months would also have hindered progress. When speaking yesterday he mentioned about spending a lot of time at home "and other places" which I take to mean hospital.

lol We're absolute mugs. How long are we as a fanbase going to stand this board for?

The death of Howard Kendall retold times of how Everton dominated the country. What are we now?

It is a disgrace that clubs like Newcastle, Sunderland, Aston Villa, etc have better stadiums than us.

Get out of the club, Kenwright & Co.
