New Everton Stadium

Here's are the words that matter from that article:

"Everton have enlisted international banks JP Morgan and MUFG to help find the backers with the club having been in deep discussions with a clutch of potential lenders."

Have a look at the date on this article and you'll see the appointment of JP Morgan and MUFG was well before the pandemic, it's old news being reused, JP Morgan and MUFG have thus far failed to find EFC funding and they've been trying a long time.

In fact those two banks have been looking for over a year and failed, they didn't start looking just last month!

https://www.business-live.co.uk/economic-development/record-losses-naming-rights-deal-17572399 (see point number 4)

It will be even harder JP Morgan and MUFG to find funding now and if they couldn't do it before the pandemic you can forget them doing it now.

You really should check you sources before you provide them.;);););)

How do you know the funding isn't in place mate? Is that because the havent released a statement on headed paper?

I think the institutions are likely to be cautious about lending money for a Stadium at the moment. With the current pandemic there has to a great deal of uncertainty regarding Football Clubs income. With no fans in the stadiums, with the TV companies asking for rebates and the hesitancy regarding commercial income being reduced, it currently isn't a good time to borrow money for a Stadium.

In the short term we may face higher interest charges but that shouldn't deter us because we can always re-finance in the future at a more favourable rate.

We aren't borrowing to buy a Rover MG. Any financial discussions that have happened will have been long term, 50 years long term. I'm pretty confident that the fact we're in the midst of a 100 year event has done nothing but remove uncertainty, as we're living in reality of it, not the threat. In 5 years time this whole thing will be a distant memory for many, and football will no doubt be generating vast sums of money again.

Individuals with money will be borrowing all over the show to invest, the interest levels are remarkably low.

This stadium will hurt the inbreds so much, there was fireworks last night for City’s defeat, they are absolutely petrified about anyone progressing

They think the city is all about them.

The thought of us opening a world class stadia on the docks or a trophy parade should we win a trophy would kill them - no fireworks, murals, "this means more" vids on social media of 10 billion fans in the city centre.

Can’t wait for their reactions as it gets built, then the grand finale.....the grand opening

Be nice if LCC actually realised there was another club in the city and get PP sorted.

10 month wait for a project that has only benefits during a time of heavy recession is scandalous.

Make no mistake if this was LFC this would have been rushed through and granted Pandemic or no Pandemic.

Absolutely shîtting themselves over it.
It's all they go on about, it must kill them whenever they visit the city and see the work progressing along the dock road getting closer and closer to BM.

But they're not arsed and at least they got a spade in the ground on Vernon Sangster car park and an absolute eyesore of a big stand.

'kin murdering shitehawks

The current RS scum narrative is ‘imaginary stadium’ but what will it be when the building work starts soon?

I think it’ll switch to: they can’t afford it, it’s going to cripple them financially and it’ll end up like Valencia’s stadium works

It’ll be good for the city comments, creating jobs (whilst absolutely praying it fails).

Definitely better for the community than decimating the area around Anfield by buying up houses in stages leaving people living in a shanty town with boarded up houses for decades and then compulsory purchasing the rest.

THIS MEANS MORE...money for their owners.

We will not be borrowing on repayment terms of 50 years. That would be the equivalent of currently paying for a stadium built in the 70's. The sensible way to finance the stadium would be a series of bonds repayable over a series of different payment lengths.

As for coronavirus being a once in a hundred-year event. It isn't we have never had a coronavirus based pandemic before. Who knows when things will get back to normal.

What makes our city unique is the bond scousers share, and that we back our own.
I HATE THEM and their Fans.
But the "Be the Bigger Man" voice in me would like to see the club encourage some kind of community projects like what the food bank lads are doing, where all footy fans from the city can somehow get involved with the build and what comes out of doing this and look at this as a great opportunity for all in the city to benefit.

OK it will be ours.

But it would be more ours if we can remain classy throughout, rather than trying to spin a 1-upmanship out of it, when we lose that battle every time on Footballing Success.
