They should consider getting an Exorcism/Spiritual cleansing of the site due to the Dock's history. I've been thinking what are the chances there are Bodies buried around St Luke's that were missed when building Goodison?!

Goodison Park (opened in 1892) came before St Lukes (opened in 1901). So if there were any bodies at GP or Mere Green, they predate St Lukes.

Unfortunately we are a charity first and a football club second. This stadium isnt the answer to bringing success, nor is RB. We are forever to be the second and least famous club in this city. End of, fact...

Thinking aloud about the BMD project. This old building in the corner which is being restored, is this going to be like the church in the corner of GP which we will be stuck with? Secondly are we required to restore that clock tower, It sem way out of the way of our new stadium?

I was talking to the groundsman on the steps at Goodison in July 1970 and he told me that we'd bought the church and were going
to knock it down and fill that space between the new stand and the Gwladys St.

Weren't the bulk of those houses demolished on Goodison Aveue and beyond in the mid-60s? And Goodison Road for the Main Stand.

I'm not dismissing that, just putting it into historical context that they were less enlightened times than now; a time when town planners could and did pretty much what they wanted with house clearance programmes, and most Everton fans will have been through the same process of having being shifted out to the suburbs and satellite towns and would have been inured to such clearances.

Personally speaking - and you as someone no doubt invested in opposing the DK project will be of the same mind - it was the destruction of care homes and a community in Kirkby that grated just as much as any shift of the club out of the city.

Fans are much more switched on about this stuff today. Although I dont remember too much friction for LFC from their fans over the devastation caused around Anfield in the last 2 decades.

How many houses are we talking about there? I remember the buildings at the junction of Goodison Road and avenue but cant remember a hundred. And what sort of condition were they in? How many were owned by the club? I believe the club built / bought many of the houses for players in a by-gone era and a lot of them were bulldozed in preparation for the World Cup in 66.

Again, not looking to absolve the club, just looking for clarity on numbers/condition/ownership.

Yes we may have knocked down houses in the past...but you have to look into HOW it was done not just the fact it was done.

You can't just keep harping on saying we did the same. How it was done is important to. And as people have told you numerous times, things have changed now it's not like it used to be.

The final resident in Gwladys Street would say he was hounded out. He was the last resident on that side for years. Those houses were less than 50yrs old and in as good condition as those opposite.... which are still standing 80yrs later. LFC bought up the majority of the surrounding properties over a number of decades and used CPO's for the rest. Far larger clearances have been carried out in the city (my familiy being displaced on a few occasions), some very recently. The big difference nowadays is that the powers of CPO are probably even stronger. The only ones "harping on" are those desperate to seize a false moral high ground, who either didn't realise we had done the same or somehow think that when we did it, it somehow didn't count.... "remembering kemlyn Rd Ladies", while conveniently forgetting the Park end families is hypocritical nonsense.
