The bulk of the houses were demolished in the 90s when the Park end and the car park were expanded. Some properties have been demolished on Goodison Rd since then.
One whole side of the Gwladys St was demolished in the 1930s to expand the Gwladys St. This was delayed for years by just one resident.
So all in all, we have history of similar practices. Most of which comes a long time after the Kemlyn Rd ladies. If we're honest, no-one batted an eye-lid at the time that the Park end proposals came out, nor years afterwards as the car park was enlarged by removing the last houses. It was simply accepted that we needed to expand and that the football club was very important, both historically and to the local economy. It had been there much longer than any local residents, who have all moved in knowing that one day the club might wish to expand.
In some fan's desperation to have at least one thing over our rivals, this has been seized upon. As evidenced by multiple discussions on various forums, for many that is in complete ignorance of our own history.... and therefore misplaced moralising.
