I know they want a north/south configurated pitch because of the east/west path of the sun, so the length of the pitch is being laid out on the narrower part of the dock. I was thinking the same thing, the pitch doesn't look like its going to be long enough. But I'm sure it will be.

Not this, again! The site is 2.5 times bigger than the footprint of GP and there has been a football stadium there for 130 years.
