New Everton Stadium

Leigh Centurions were once denied promotion to the rugby Super League because their stadium wasn't up to snuff. There is every liklihood that such an event could occur with regards to Goodison Park should Everton get relegated and be up for promotion.

Time is up for the Old Lady and the new stadium development is an absolute necessity whether we stay up or go down.

mate if we went down they’re won’t be no promotion ffs

That is what you've been conditioned to think due to 30 years of downplaying expectations, of this club and its fanbase. We are still one of the biggest clubs in this country, Villa came back, Fulham have, WBA and Newcastle multiple times during the Premier League era and we are bigger than the lot (well on par with Villa at least). Why don't you think we wouldn't? It makes zero sense.

As long as the backing remains we will get back and probably remove a bit of the fear as protecting our ever present status and 70+ years without relegation has become almost like a trophy itself leading to bad decisions. Set free of this and maybe something to celebrate might make us a bit happier. Of course I wouldn't have chosen this but it is what it is.

well i’m my opinion it would melt the club in every way. and we would not come back
up

Not this, again! Who said that? I don't know anyone of that opinion. There again we have spent diddly squat on GP for decades and we've managed to do avoid winning trophies. So, what's your point? Spend money on the squad? That's worked out well, hasn't it?
Good point. This idea that we’ll be better off at Goodison, a stadium that makes us very little money due to its small capacity and lack of corporate facilities, is laughable.

We’re at Goodison now and just look at the mess we’re in!

The two aren't mutually exclusive. Building or not building the stadium has no impact on our current on field issues. It does however have long-term implications. The club continue to fall further and further behind without the new stadium.

In the hypothetical world where we stop building the stadium and therefore stay in the league, we are only kicking the can further down the road.
Exactly.

It’s not a binary choice between:

“get relegated and get a new stadium” or “stay at Goodison and don’t progress”

We can stay up AND get a new stadium.

Hello Mr Chairman.

If we are relegated then there is every chance we can bounce back straight away.
We will be selling players, but if we stay up we will still sell players.

Everton is a big club , we will keep a number of players who may not shine in the Premiership but would be very good in the Championship. In addition, maybe now we will stop signing expensive , over paid players with little motivation and no resale value.

We may be forced to sign a mixture of free/cheap experienced players and younger cheaper players with the potential to develop.

No Evertonian wants relegation but if it happens then it has to be dealt with and managed to the best advantage of the club.
Begovic, Keane,Godfrey, Coleman, Patterson, Mykolenko, Branthwaite,Davies, Doucoure, Iwobi, Gordon,Gray,Rondon would form the basis of a solid squad.

Broadhead may be able to contribute at that level and Simms also. You would also hope that Dobbin, Onyango , Price and maybe others would be able to contribute as well ever before we sign any player.

That would allow for the sale of Pickford, Mina, Holgate,Richarlison and DCL none of whom will want to drop down a level.
