New Everton Stadium


Seeing as the results went well for us over the weekend and I am feeling a bit more optimistic about our chances of survival (until about 10pm tomorrow night, of course) I thought I'd ask about the suggestion made a few times regards expanding the new stadium, should the need ever arise over the next 100 or so years we are likely to call it home. Putting aside all talk of increased capacity re. safe standing, there was talk that the east and west stands could both be expanded. Can anybody confirm what I think is the case, namely that the flat roofs on both side stands will not house any facilities of any description, be it bars, catering or toilets etc? If I am correct, then presumably the way in which the stands are expanded is by extending the steel raker beams to a greater height and adding more support to these with more steels closer to the edge of the stands. The roof on both sides would be higher than the stands behind the goals and would also overhang the stands on the sides, whereas at the moment when complete they won't. Is that the plan re. any increase necessitating getting the builders back in?

I’m just happy to see a new stadium with close to a 30% increase in capacity tbh.. with the design I really can’t see much opportunity for expansion other than extending the terrace in th north stand. I do agree that the east and west stand have more potential for future plans given their footprint certainly exceeds the height.

That's the way I am looking at it mate. There's something to be said for the Last season at Goodison to be a successful one were we win the Treble including two competitions for the first time and then Bramley Moore will have to a purpose for the new Cabinet in the boardroom with two shiny new trophies as a sign of things to come!!!
