New Everton Stadium

It's easy to see where the plan has gone astray. Brexit, Covid, the Russia situation and now interest rates that are several hundred percent higher than they were when the stadium was being conceived.

Usually any one of those factors would end up with project cancelled 'Everton that', he should be applauded for seeing it through despite the extras in cost and financing. As the post above says, around half of the stadium has effectively been funded by Moshiri and we'll have to pay the costs on the other. Not great, but not terminal either.

Not terminal provided the £400m is gifted and not partly or fully passed on to a leveraged buy-out trying to milk a bull..... as opposed to a deep pocketed oil state or similar.

That's only covering the interest on any resultant debt, not clearing it. Which in turn is dependent on stadium construction and club's operating costs not increasing further and those estimated income projections being realised......... So there's a few ifs, buts and maybe's, possibly all just to break even.

Of course, that doesn’t take into account any new stadium effect type elevation of value.... which could tip the balance further.

On my list of places to visit Bristol great city and folk by all accounts.

I love it. There isnt a "must see" thing, but its just comfy, relaxed, triffic bars and proper pubs. @Diogenes the Cynic got stuck here with his now wife early days of lockdown. He stayed.

Bristol City have a new ground as well, which I havnt been in, but it looks fab. (phew)

I see that the Esk commented further on this on the Everton Board thread. He doesn't believe that MSP's £100m (for 25% of shares) has been sufficient to convince the banks to lend us the rest of the money to complete the stadium. This is why he previously tweeted that Moshiri will be forced to give MSP 51%.

Well that's all part of it, you would assume if we've already taken money off of MSP then we know exactly how much is required to get a commercial loan. I personally cannot see how that would make sense for Moshiri though, if he sells another 25% for 100 million he'll be on for a max 500 million if he sold everything at the end. I think it would then be safer to sell the whole club now.

Even if we were down 10 million a year it wouldn't be the worst thing in the world. We spent much more on crap over the years and as I say interest rate on these loans won't always be as high as they are now.

We need to be in a position for when the next billionaire or country want to buy a club, this stadium is a big part of that. It may never happen but there is always a hope.
