New Everton Stadium

The hydraulic tower and dock retaining walls are Grade II listed buildings.

That's the historical aspect out of the way.

Unesco and all other quango related nonsense has naff all to do with it.
Talking of listed buildings I see that Gwladys Street & bullens road stands both are listed
how does that work when goodison gets redeveloped?

There‘s a reason why it was listed and the crappy warehouses weren’t…..think about it.…..

Yeah the walls are still there apart from the holes we’ve put in them. Could’ve dismantled the tower carefully so it could be restored brick by brick when we move grounds again.
When they talk of the preserved dock walls, they're NOT talking about the wall the runs alongside Regent Road.

They mean the walls that support the sides of the bloody big hole that was full of water. They're still there, preserved under the stadium.

If we ever move grounds we are obliged to return the site to a dock.

The walls outside look brilliant though, a happy coincidence having that history running alongside the new stadium

Good point, lets burn the new stadium down, we can start the process again once we've attained mid table status a few seasons on the trot.

We can only focus on one thing a decade.

Is he suggesting that it should be burned-down/demolished? (Did Valencia have to knock down their stadium when they ran out of cash?)

I don't think he is. He's merely suggesting that the stadium may now be part of the reason for (or certainly not helping) our current financial woes. Which in turn may seriously threaten our entire future if we are not able to seriously strengthen an already weak squad (as proven by the last 2 yrs performance). Ultimately leading to us finally being relegated. Apologies if I've misrepresented him.

The notion that the stadium exists in its own protected bubble because it has its own thread here is a dangerous one. It might've been almost the case before the inflated costs (if genuine) and with the Usmanov sponsorship safety net filling all the financial gaps, but certainly not now. We now appear to be in the middle of a fire-sale of players and potentially club stock too, with a dysfunctional temporary board to boot and the Profit and Sustainability Police breathing down our necks.

You may not have picked up on it, but I was being deliberately hyperbolic.

I did pick up on it..... i was merely wondering why you felt the need.
The lad posts ill thought out worst case scenarios in every single thread and my post was highlighting the over the top doom-ism in the trend of his posts.

But this is just explaining the pathetically obvious, so crack on telling us why Bramely Moore is a disaster and we'd be better off on that 3g pitch you wanted at the crappy bestway site

This thread is descending into a farce.

  • Blue bricks.
  • Getting rid of beautiful listed structures that ooze character.
  • Doom mongers who only focus on the stadium debt while ignoring its financial benefits
  • Doom mongers ignoring the fact that Goodison has held us back and ignoring the fact we need this modern stadium which will increase the value of the club and make us more attractive to investors.

I'm not sure if I've read his posts elsewhere tbh, so can't really comment.
HIS "worst case"....? How is it even a case? Do you remember it ever appearing in the brochure that the "worst case" was that it could have the authorities chasing us on a Profit and Sustainability case that could leave the club financially hamstrung, to potentially sink it without trace? No, me neither!

I've no idea what the loop site has to do with your argument...... or is that just further tangential hyperbole?
