New Everton Stadium

I think I was the one who compared the hydraulic tower to St. Luke's a few pages back.

I didn't mean it should be used to sell old programmes and nik-naks. I meant from an architectural point of view. A beautiful old building full of character that forms an integral part of our property. St. Lukes is a fantastic and unique feature of Goodison. The H.T. will be similar at BMD.
The Hydraulic Tower is a great feature and worthy of restoration . Peel also said they would restore the dockers clock at some point .
I doubt there will be an equivalent of the St. Lukes tearoom at BMD but I hope there will be a space somewhere for the Heritage Society and the Ruleteros to sell their gear.

It would be quite easy to have some nice looking prefab units dotted around the fanzone for stuff like that.

Even spruced up shipping containers are very popular as retail spaces/cafes. Can't say a shipping container is out of space on a dock lol

This thread is descending into a farce.

  • Blue bricks.
  • Getting rid of beautiful listed structures that ooze character.
  • Doom mongers who only focus on the stadium debt while ignoring its financial benefits
  • Doom mongers ignoring the fact that Goodison has held us back and ignoring the fact we need this modern stadium which will increase the value of the club and make us more attractive to investors.

You must be new to this thread then as that’s what this thread is all about.

We gone from those who said it will never be built to the pitch won’t fit to now the stadium debt and we should scrap the whole thing and plough it into the team.

With this level of unrivalled intellect in this thread what in earth are you doing posting sensible musing on here ????

Remember we should be challenging on all fronts before we look at a new ground and as for ploughing vast sums of cash into the team ? I wonder how that would go with this board then ???

And as for Goodison that will give us a strong financial platform to compete with the top clubs going forward wouldn’t it surely?!?!

As I said some clowns in here want to main and be edgy in the only positive thread about this club, like there isn’t any other thread to post angst

You can call people doom mongers, when you've clearly shown everyone how the financial benefits you mention outweigh or even just balance the debts incurred. You say it with such confidence, I assume you've seen it all explained clearly on a spreadsheet or similar somewhere. If you have seen the numbers show them or provide a link. I (HONESTLY) would love to be as convinced too.

I only ask because the same financial benefits you mention failed to attract any interested financial institutions, even at £500m total costs, with a lucrative sponsorship deal and a billionaire owner prepared to stump up half the costs himself. Nevermind at an inflated £750m cost, without a sponsorship (from the multi-billionaire real owner). The financial model for the stadium never got off the ground at any point. It's had to be entirely funded by the owner...... an owner who has painted us into a financial tight corner and almost certainly now wants out. Surely the question now is who ultimately takes the financial hit? Moshiri, the club, MSP or any prospective new owner in the near future?

If you haven't seen any full financial modelling/forecast to cover your assertion, then you are only displaying blind faith, because you don't want this project tainted or sullied in any way. That, as we now see (and as we saw with Destination Kirkby) is potentially far more dangerous than any perceived negativity or doom-mongery.

Bit miserable this thread now.

For some positivity, I had a nice early morning run down the prom and saw the magnificent structure rising across the Mersey in the daybreak, and it looked great.

The brick facade is now halfway across the north stand so starting to really get a sense of how the end state will look.
That'll be Matty being his usual cheerful upbeat self and Tom spreading his own special brand of misery.

Happy, happy, joy, joy...

Between the CA forum going, and this one turning into a misery fest, I’m now only left with the Films and Funny stuff threads.

We’ve got a whole season of being miserable about Everton’s on field performance ahead of us, don’t wanna spend pre-season miserable as well!

Mate, I'm, fully aware of the financial predicament we are in. I've also accepted that we are building the stadium. That we have to build a stadium. And that these things cost lots of money. I'm not displaying any blind faith, I'm just saying that you don't really need to repeat ad nauseum your complaints about us building BMD.

No, I haven't done a full financial model to back up my comment on a chat forum because that would be just crazy. Most of us are here to casually comment on and chat about the stadium. It's something we are excited about. We don't commission independent studies, nor spend our entire day on monitoring every post and replying with massive essays when someone doesn't share our opinion.

Voicing a concern or reservation based on a lack of basic information is not complaining at all..... nevermind ad nauseum.

I didn't ask YOU to do a full financial model.... i asked you to reproduce the official or other one that gave you the confidence to mention the "financial benefits" that make this all work. You can't..... that's literally the definition of blind faith.... no essay required!
