I'm saying this in peace and not particularly aimed at you but I hate the way this self deprecation has crept into our fans.

So, in essence, and as it stands, and even if the entirety of seats within the stadium were converted to standing, the capacity would not increase? In other words, even with any amount of standing, our capacity is limited to 52,888 given our 750mm tread?750mm treads can never equate to 2:1. There is a minimum special requirement per person, when that is applied to each 750mm row it only gives approx 1.3-1.5. Then of course there has to be some room for people to get in and out of each row. In the days of terracing the gaps between crush barriers were much wider, so people could usually find some space to weave through the crowd to get to friends etc. That space is far more constrained by the rails. That's why the German Stadia usually have have treads of 850-1000mm in these areas. I think it was 850mm in the original drawings for BMD.
I think there are some doubts about increased ratios ever being allowed. Colin Chong has said as much for a while. There is some concern about excessive migration of people to the more desirable standing areas (ie directly behind the goal) or simply to be nearer friends, that may cause localised overcrowding. Having a defined seat to stand next to at least offers some self-control to some of that, by allowing people to say "you're in my spec". If proper terracing was ever allowed (as it is a multiple RL grounds), then that could help the call for increased ratios, but I'm not sure that they'd ever go to the maximum spacial allowance.
It will depend on the legislative requirements from the government in terms of what becomes permissible. So, in essence, and as it stands, and even if the entirety of seats within the stadium were converted to standing, the capacity would not increase? Cheers mate, appreciate the easy-to-follow breakdownIt will depend on the legislative requirements from the government in terms of what becomes permissible.
If safe standing is allowed but only at 1:1 ratio then the capacity wouldn't increase.
Theoretically 750mm depth allows 2:1 however with people needing to move in and out its likely that only 1.3:1 or 1.5:1 would be permissible. (this is where you need 850-1000mm depth to comfortably and safely allow 2:1).
If we take the approximately 13k seats in the South Stand as an example and converted them all to safe standing at the 1.3:1 or 1.5:1 ratios then the capacity of the south stand would be as follows.
1.3:1 = 16,900
1.5:1 = 19,500
For the Stadium as a whole (52,888) it would be
1.3:1 = 68,754
1.5:1 = 79,332
however we know this would never happen as the stadium would never be fully standing due to corporate seating/boxes, premium seating, disabled areas etc.
If we estimated that half of the seating (26,444) became safe standing then the overall capacity would be
1.3:1 = 60,821
1.5:1 = 66,110

Really needs to be 1.339:1 for that magical 61878.It will depend on the legislative requirements from the government in terms of what becomes permissible.
