New Everton Stadium

Id imagine they could diffuse the light by putting a lens on it (rather than replacing it with strips) to give it more of a glow rather than spot light effect). It'd be cool if they could make the lights 'pulse' as well.

Yes, I just think the spotlight effect is a bit too harsh and needs softening to a broader glow as you suggest.

Might sound odd, but my surprise is that they're lighting it up from.the outside. I thought they would make use of the perforations to allow.a more gradual dissipation of the light. But then, I'm no lighting engineer and I'm sure they've modelled a few options.

I'd love to see an underwater, rippling effect, but that would also require a softer 'glow' like you say.

Yes, I also wondered if they'd light from within the barrel, through the perforated skin.... would it look like the roof had been X-rayed though, showing up all the structural bones?

You'll get that mate during the first match, when the stadium sinks slowly back into the Mersey.. :)

When the attendance was being agreed they will have looked at the data to see what would be appropriate. Stuff like this.

Have to agree with others: the lighting so far has been unimpressive.

I was expecting an Allianz arena full-illumination for the roof and I'd be very disappointed if *that* is it.

Surely not.
Why expect something that wasn’t in the designs? They showed a subtle blue hue around the bottom part of the roof only - something that seems likely to be achieved with a bit more tinkering. It’s not meant to be like a trip to Blackpool.
