New Everton Stadium

Don't think I ever noticed before that the UU land that we have borrowed was just wasteland. Makes it even more frustrating we couldn't have come to an agreement to buy it off them. 2m30s in the below video.

Great video that. It's some upgrade for the docks when you look at the before and after. As that fella mentioned losing the heritage status looks silly given that the stadium fits neatly into the surroundings and has only immensely improved said surroundings. That part of the city needed work and the stadium has been a gift. As the uploader also said more businesses will be attracted there too.

Yes mate, the Anfield never reopened after last season unfortunately. That was a great pre-game pint. Sat in there for more than 20 years, with only a few seasons missed. They've always managed to reopen, but not this time. 😪

That's a shame. I sometimes walk past there on the way to the match. I went in there a few times in the 80s with my brother because I think they sold his favourite mild at the time haha. He's no longer with us and was thinking about going in one last time. I only noticed the social club recently.

I don’t want to be mean or presumptuous, but are you an older person? For me, Goodison park is a cursed hell hole and I can’t wait to see the back of the place. I hope the demon that so obviously resides there stays when we leave and the curse on this team is lifted once and for all.

Some demon.... more top flight games than any other football ground in the country..... and by some margin! If you're really going to go down the nonsensical route of good/bad-luck-charm theories, I would say history shows that it has been far more of a Talisman than demon.

A complete lack of investment (literally the lowest of all Premier league and EFL clubs, and many non-league clubs) in the past 30yrs, thus letting the once finest stadium in the UK go to seed, has been the issue. The same negligence and managed-decline that has seen our dramatic fall from the elite to nobodies, was presided over by a few people, not an aging stadium. Its decline was a symptom, not the cause!

I don’t blame anyone for being down on Goodison due to recency bias - especially younger people with far fewer personal highlights.

It’s hard work watching this team there and squinting to look back through the mists of time to either remember or imagine better eras.

Does anyone know if we'll be selling real ale in the ground? I know it takes 5 times longer than beer to be poured, but 0.1% of the fanbase prefer it. I've checked the travel documents and there's nothing about it?

it'd be nice, even if it is just one little bar tucked away somewhere with 3 or 4 different ones on the go, fizzy lagery things arent for me, cream flow bitters are foul, the only other option is guiness but that takes ages to pour so unlikely to be on.

Perhaps, but blaming an inanimate object for our decline is nonsense.
