New Everton Stadium

So, The Baltic Triangle Station got approved yesterday and is scheduled to be open by 2027, 15 years after the idea was first floated.

So tell your kids, that they can look forward to Sandhills being fit for purpose. Eventually!!
Cant wait to see Dutch, Spanish, German, Italian fans being stop-started on the dock road to get over a bridge and cutting through the Titanic Hotel on their way back into town.

The world's media will love covering that.

The next LCR Mayoral election is May 2028. Just in time for Commander Steve to step down before the Euros.

Steve loves it when a plan comes together.

You dont have to cut through the Titanic hotel, just walk along the road up to Great Howard street.

Thousands of European football fans walking 2 miles through Vauxhall and back into town.

Commander Steve will have his feet up on a Caribbean beach when all that happens, with a lifetime Liverpool season ticket for his reward.

The challenge is, until they sort out transport issues, is build something that keeps them in the area. Bars, food, activities. Thats likely a quicker solution that is possible before 2028. Transport will be largely as it is. Also, the clientele for the Euros will be different to Everton home games. There are clearly transport issues, its obvious, but, many of them will start to feel easier with routine and familiarity. That isn't me saying wait and let's sort it ourselves, but nothing will improve drastically for at the very least 5 years in terms of transport speed or capacity above what is already capable of achieving.

We could use this as an opportunity. Keep people at the ground. Put on local bands after games, keep the food stalls open, get some money spent over the bar while promoting local bands. Viewing parties for the game after the one hosted at BMD. There's loads that can be done.

Everton fan culture would have to undergo a massive transformation for partial solutions like that to have any impact.

I keep saying that there's a big overestimation of the elasticity of our fans, financially speaking. This is not a wealthy fanbase. Getting to games and out again sharpish is a feature of the Goodison experience for a reason.

But your comment was about European fans, particularly during the Euros. I even mentioned that the fanbases will be very different in solution requirements and approach.

We can use the transport difficulties to our benefit during the Euros, as they won't be resolved then. In the meantime Evertonians will form new habits and routines, and find ways to deal with the issues. This doesn't reduce the need for solutions, but it will not be as bad as anything at the test events. People could easily have walked over to Great Howard street and into town, but most chose not to. If you put a 3rd test event on tomorrow, without a forced mass exit, then the issue wouldn't be so bad.

It’s not a wealthy fan base right now. But it soon will be if these fellas achieve their goals.

No chance. At least in as it may be delayed but there's no chance they are making that call now when they've got 6 weeks. And if they did they aren't spreading it all round the place for a starter ad they'd have to be placing all stress on their subbies at this point

maybe they are saying it’s a possibility?

i don’t know why you want to argue over it

really

At the end of the day they still have to get back into town. And the majority will be heading back into the city centre with its masses of bars and restaurants rather than stay at the venue where they'd have been milling around for a couple of hours before and then the 2 hours duration of the game.3.3 / 4 hours will be saturation point for those fans.

No, there'll be congestion at the end of Euro matches too.

Depends on what the planner says. The planner will have it all detailed out to the final day and beyond. Any number of things can cause a delay, and it may simply be an early warning (EWN) that due to one thing or another, there may be a delay. It is pretty standard to have EWN's a few months in advance and they can come from any part of the supply chain. It would be daft of Everton to not pass on any EWN to the Premier League fixtures team if there was any risk of delay raising its head. They may not have "made the call" but its possible that a conversation has happened where the outcome is, let's just make sure your first two games are away, then we're sorted.

How are they going to achieve that? Tourist fans by the thousands? Then we're done for as a club if that happens.

People dont consider Liverpool to be anything but a joke corporate club after their transformation (their fans can talk all they want all day and wave flags about 'Scouse not English) but they're a pantomime act.

When we have tourist fans by the thousands, we will finally be back where we belong: in the elite.
