New Everton Stadium

As things stand, that's incorrect.

Not often I get to go all ITK, but you can take that one to the bank

Echo mis-reported that slightly. The pitch will be renovated in the summer, but it'll still be the same pitch construction. It's splitting hairs, but this was always the plan even before the test event.

That was me, but you're misquoting me.

The Echo and other outlets reported that it was being ripped up and replaced, I said that's not quite accurate and that it was being renovated and that had been the plan the entire time, long before a ball was kicked on the surface by the kids.

I have absolutely zero ITK status and know absolutely nothing about grass, but I do know this tidbit for absolute certain.
I’m not misquoting you at all. If anything, it’s you who are misquoting. The echo never said the whole thing was being dug up again to the very foundations, they said the pitch was being taken up again and relaid, which is exactly what is happening.

Listen I definitely agree stopping people bringing in a little packed lunch is out of order but this is the world we live in now....like it or lump it.

If people take umbrage with it shoot into town and get a Greggs for a fiver before the game.

The club will argue the quality of food on offer far exceeds anything else in the country so there for it's priced accordingly.

Dave mate, Honesty if they had a Chinese banquet free of charge every game you'd probably moan we were eating with a fork and not chopsticks.
He’s a man with a fork in a world of soup

Would you also say people should be given Hobson's choice on what they eat at the match - i.e. from stadium catering or f.a.?

….never really thought about it, Dave. Can’t think why I’d want to take food into a football match, I know my wife took a couple of wafer biscuits into the test event for our 3yo grandson and that was ok. Wouldn’t expect fans to take their own booze in.

Other than that, I’d probably prefer people to eat in the concourse than at their seats but I have no strong feelings on the subject except the food should be decent.

It should be affordable as well, and they should allow someone in with some sweets or crisps and not treat them like they're a war criminal if they do.

It goes to a bigger issue for me: the change of the type of people who'll be supporting Everton from now on. I expect the season tickets to be sweated season after next. The profile of our fanbase - matchgoing - will change in the same way as the Liverpool one has. That'll be an enormous loss to our identity.

Why should they? If you can’t go 90 minutes without a packet of crisps there’s something seriously wrong with you ffs
Well that doesn't account for people who might have dietary regimes that require that.

But regardless: it's an entertainment complex not gladiator school. People tend to want to watch and have a bit to eat or drink. It shouldn't be a choice of paying through the nose or have nothing. Let people bring their butties in.

and they should allow someone in with some sweets
