New In-House Ticket Re-Sale Platform (no more StubHub!)

The analogy was sound. You just failed or refused to understand it.

You say the new system is shoddy, because it doesn’t suit your selfish needs.

You decided to buy 19 games. Nobody forced you.
If you choose not to use them, you have the right to give them to family or friends.
Or sell them privately.
Or let the club re-sell them once they’ve sold out.

Or don’t buy a season ticket.
That is illegal. Any sales have to be authorised by the club.

There are times when ST holders just cant make a match.
Let's say I have a wedding to go to in January.
I will have four seats together I cant use. SH allowed me to offer them for sale and someone looking ahead could buy them and the know they had tickets and could start making firm plans. I have recouped some of my outlay. They are going the match.
Everyone's happy.
Except you.

“Don’t buy a season ticket then”.

Just to clarify is this how the new system works?

Everton initially sell 3 types of ticket
1) season tickets, at a reduced rate per game (usually £20-£25 below game day face value) that people buy in advance knowing they are buying and holding a seat for EVERY home game. The club sell approx 32000 a year
2) general sale tickets, full price tickets approx 7000 a game
3) away supporter tickets again full price approx 3000 a game

Now the new system allows a season ticket holder who can’t go a game a way to sell their ticket through the club.
Everton resell the ticket at full face value as if it was a general sale ticket, give the season ticket holder the pro-rata value for their ticket (season ticket cost % by 19) as credit against next years season ticket. The club then retain the remaining money thus increasing ticket revenue (all be it by a small amount a game)

is this correct??

I don’t really see much of a problem, in theory we have a huge season ticket waiting list so there is demand for tickets, the season ticket holder gets cost value for the ticket, the club gets an increased revenue. The only losers are, the person who expects to pay below face value to go watch a game, and season ticket holders who expect to resell their ticket at an inflated price. Both of which the club have taken steps to stop

There isn’t huge demand for tickets. When we had Stubhub people would list tickets for £25 which didn’t sell.

Classic playing the man and not the ball response, characterising me as selfish, and choosing not to respond to the comment on your flawed points around gate receipts.

The system is shoddy, as has been pointed out by multiple people in this thread.

You’re not discussing this issue in good faith.

Whatever……

No, I’m happy with the new system, you’re the one whining.

I buy our season tickets. I we can’t go for any reason I give them to friends or family. I don’t expect any refund.

...and supporters who have to plan in advance as they have flights, hotels etc and have to settle for 'pillar' views as they can't risk holding on for the better seats. If the club introduced a premium for being able to book a good seat well in advance, I'd certainly pay it. It's the crap view having spent £200-£300 a couple of times a year that is my main gripe.

I have no wish to fall out with fellow Blues and understand that the local fans are the primary concern but surely, we as a club, should be trying to encourage out-of-town fans both for Everton's and the City of Liverpool in general.

I will still be there, behind a post or not but I will miss those great seats.

"...if I hadn't seen such riches, I could live with being poor!" (Apologies for the Manc reference)

Fair enough. What about people who usually couldn't afford to go like the parent and his 2 kids who bought my Norwich tickets a few years ago, in a prime position in the Lower Gwladys for £40? Now the father would have to pay a oner for obstructed view seats. Thinking that is in any way better for anyone is proper tory behaviour.

All profits from the new system go to EitC. That‘s a good thing.

If you’re so concerned for these poor fans, why don’t you give your tickets away like the rest of us do?

Agree with the EitC thing.

Opinion on this is clearly dependent on how it affects someone personally. I wonder if a system where the £35 membership fee gave you access to STH resells in advance and that went to EitC as well. Might encourage quite a few more members. Would allow others to access decent seats and allow others to pass them on if they desired.

Alternatively, charge similar 'fees' as Stubhub to offset some of the poorer seats not selling.

Roll on BMD.... that'll sort it a lot of it.

That’s not the case for everybody.

I’ve got a good seat in the Upper Gladwys which will be more likely than many other STs to sell frequently using this new system. I might even end up saving more money than Stubhub as a lot of times I sold mine and made less than the pro rata rate for the new system.

But this new system is worse for fans who are less well off, and that’s not good. It’s also objectively a much worse system currently in terms of functionality, which is something the club could and should have avoided.

Fair point. It was indeed a clumsy generalisation. No offence intended.
