New In-House Ticket Re-Sale Platform (no more StubHub!)

Agree with the EitC thing.

Opinion on this is clearly dependent on how it affects someone personally. I wonder if a system where the £35 membership fee gave you access to STH resells in advance and that went to EitC as well. Might encourage quite a few more members. Would allow others to access decent seats and allow others to pass them on if they desired.

Alternatively, charge similar 'fees' as Stubhub to offset some of the poorer seats not selling.

Roll on BMD.... that'll sort it a lot of it.

Roll on BMD for sure!

Agree, no system is perfect & some will complain if it doesn’t suit them personally.

The problem here is too many season tickets up for resale. Some just occasionally & for genuine reasons. Some taking the p1ss.

Everton are a business. No business is going re-sell something they already sold before the rest is sold out.

Hopefully the club will be monitoring this. If a ticket is up for resale more than say 3 times, they shouldn‘t renew it. Get season tickets into the hands of fans who use them.

PS….
Not sure the club binned StubHub. StubHub stopped trading in UK.

Wasn't aware of that. Maybe this is one reason why we're seeing lots of vacant seats at PL matches so far this season. [Digressing somewhat, but has the club offered any explanation as to why virtually the whole of one away section at Brighton was empty last weekend, despite the official position being that the away end had been sold out?]

Can‘t answer either, sorry.

Maybe some still nervous to return due to covid?

Away tickets often restricted by the local police. Sometimes clubs just don’t take up their allocation, even when they could sell them. Maybe again due to covid they didn’t want 3000 outsiders rammed in boozers?

Agree with all that.

Because I'd be looking two or three times a season, there were banks of seats which were obviously on every time and we're probably someone's little 'earner'. The club could and should certainly stop this.

Much as some criticise the club, every single dealing I've had with them, has been brilliant and honestly believe they think about the fans.

Would be brilliant if they could find a way to accommodate visiting fans further in advance and allow a few resales for people who perhaps struggled to make the ST price and could do with the cash.

It's only wishful thinking and, as I've said before, I'll still be there, pillar or no pillar. The issue isn't a hill I'm prepared to die on but maybe someone at the club might read GoT and think that there may be a way around the issues. Wishful thinking indeed :-)

That is illegal. Any sales have to be authorised by the club.
Not it isn't or at least it isn't as clear cut. The first point being it's not a criminal matter therefore it's merely a breach of the club's T&Cs rather than being illegal.

Secondly, regardless of the T&Cs the club has to some extent set a precedent by regularly turning a blind eye to other people using named season tickets.

Think back to the first game of the season and the worry that the name on tickets may not match COVID passes and the club replied that for ST holders it's fine.

While some may say it's for gifting tickets, it would be naive to suggest that the club were not aware and accepted that some of these tickets had been sold.

So in the purest sense the club can and perhaps will use their terms of entry for continuous breaches, but in the majority of cases the practice will be accepted.

However, I do think that moving to digital season tickets is a factor in the club reducing this or at least controlling it by enforcing 'gifting' through the club.

Don‘t know where I got that from. I thought I’d read it on here.

StubHub still facilitating tout scum…….

The owner of StubHub (Viagogo?) was offering to sell the business outside of North America in order to facilitate a merger. This was a fair few months back and I don't know what the outcome was.

But, as far as I know, Stubhub are very much alive and kicking in the UK and, as you say, helping touts tout.

Well done Everton!

The problem here is that alot of the time the only reason some people can't go is that the game has been moved for TV. If most of the games were Saturday 3pm I'd have been to nearly every home game for the last 5+ years.... as it is I've missed a fair few due to the TV schedule. I'm currently debating time off work to get to the next Monday night game.

Interesting about StubHub - I didn't know that.

One season I went to 8 or 9 home games just buying tickets off stubhub and I don't think I ever paid more than £30 for an adult ticket. Other than the big games it often worked out a lot cheaper. I think I might have even paid as little as £12-15 for some games.

Not football but I know about the music industry, a lot of people are buying gig tickets but not going, Circa Waves at the uni was sold out but 100s didnt go, I know of other examples.
I really wanted to go Leeds but didnt becuase of covid worries, I even qualified but never even bothered getting a ticket to pass on.

Sadly some people would prefer fans to have to pay £40 for naff restricted views, before those resale tickets are available to purchase.

Yep, people have lives to lead outside of football.

In the 18/19 PL season we played the following home games:

5 games on a Monday-Friday
8 games on a Sunday
6 games on a Saturday

Is it any surprise people can’t get to a lot of these games ?

Agree 100%. I would love to go back & say no to the Premier League and Sky!
At very least we should do what the Italians do, one late game for tv.
Loyal match going fans get treated like crap.

To be fair though, we all know the score before we buy the season ticket.

That‘s understandable.

Just seems ludicrous to me that supporters are stuck behind a pillar when there are great seats available.

Haven't thought this through probably but would an 'Upgrade' system work? Like change your poor seat to one of the better seats that haven't been sold? If it's done on the day of the match when all the tickets that are going to be sold have been sold, then there's no financial loss, maybe even a gain if they want to charge for it. The ST gets a bit of cash back and fans get a better match day experience. Touts not a factor as the club controls everything.
