Lawro's Prediction for Newcastle United v Everton

Nothing has changed with Everton in the last few months in that they are a decent side right up until they reach the opposing penalty area. It has been a strange season for them and you cannot help thinking what their manager David Moyes makes about the general situation at the club, and the lack of money he has had to spend to try to rectify their problems.

I know they were without injured pair Marouane Fellaini and Tim Cahill when they crashed out of the FA Cup on Tuesday but I still expected them to beat Reading at home, especially after they had knocked out the holders Chelsea on penalties to get there and easily despatched Sunderland in the meantime.

You just cannot be sure what you are going to get from Everton, while Newcastle are far more consistent. The Magpies keep picking up points and have lost only once in the league this year. I cannot see Everton getting anything at St James' Park.

Prediction: Newcastle United 2-1 Everton

This would put Everton in 6th place on 52 points, according to Lawro's predictions for the season.

In fact, Everton go into the game in 11th place with 33 points.

Here are all of Lawro's 2010-11 Premier League predictions, together with how the League Table would look like if he was correct...

Heart says 3-2 Everton, head says 3-2 Newcastle.

Beckford should start, anyone who scores twice the previous game should be in the team the next week

Honestly haven't got a clue on this one.
Part of me is saying we will but the sane side of me is saying we wont get anything.
If the real everton team turns up it will be easy.

Oh good, Gosling is injured, we have a chance........

Really hope we can expect a response from Everton here. Keep the faith and bring home the points blue boys!

Im Sick of that though, after to many awful displays this season were always calling for them to stand up and be counted etc etc the shouldent have to do that because they shouldent be playing so badly in the first place

Yeh I know what you are saying. The so called big teams who like to play football and spray it around e.g. Spurs, Chelsea etc we have stood up to them and got results, the teams that like 'to put it up 'em' e.g Wigan and Bolton etc we have struggled. I personally think we look lightweight and are getting bullied in games. Its up to Everton to prove they have the stomach for the fight. The truth is, a good run could see us finish 6th but that is looking a distant reality right now. After Reading we should be chomping at the bit to get out there and give the fans something to cheer.....Everton it's over to you.

Great, just what we need. A trip to bell central.

The only consistency this season has been our inconsistency. Any sign of momentum was wiped away with a dogturd of a performance to wipe out any remaining hopes from our season. I'm fuming, you're fuming, everyone's fuming apart from the lazy teds who will sleep comfortably in their MTV mansions.

In the cold hard light of day we know have to ensure that we're still a Premiership club next season, and that starts reet up north in St James Park (@sportsdirect.com).

Newcastle are three points ahead of us in the league. Not bad at all as the quality of the squad they brought up was expected to struggle. They done a job on us at Goodison earlier in the season and will fancy their chances to make it a double.

I've never forgiven the beauts for their brand of self absorbed zany when they put together a decent team in the mid nineties, their kopite love in and trying to look down their noses at us didn't help. Away from the fusball they're quite sound as far as English places go, and have wonderfully filthy females as an apt bonus. Celebrity fans include Ant & Dec, Tony Blair & Raoul Moat.

The team has been effective this season rather than stunning, that Tiote is a decent player who does good work in the middle and they also have their snidey grocks, like Nolan. And the arse showing Barton, who's a blue but a tit. Stephen Ireland, the little upside down headed beaut, is also in line to make his début.

The club showed their media savvy by getting knocked out of the cup so they could bury the bad news of Fellaini being out for the season. Cahill is injured so the line up could be anything, but likely to contain Saha and Beckford up front. Maybe they should carshare just in case, Beckford driving of course. With Sat Nav. Rodwell is likely to be a shoe in for Fellaini if not then prepare to groan as Heitinga runs about the midfield like the neighbourhood dog that barks loads but sh*ts it and runs away when you stamp your foot.

Only Everton can make you feel this way. Don't lie, you still love them.

 good stuff...

Will be a tough game, let's not kid ourselves..
Spidey sense suggest a sending off on one or both sides..

fml.

If he opts to play a 451, id rather it be Louis that starts up front.

yup, me too, about Louis- only difference is i was thinking 442 and Beckford to get him starting games while hes banging them in. i`m fed up with our lone striker tactic when they easily get snuffed out by a mob of defenders onto one lad

According to the Guardian, Coleman is a doubt. If he doesn't make it, I'd expect Moyes to play:

_________Howard
Neville Jagielka Distin Baines
_________Heitinga
_Osman Arteta Rodwell Bily
__________Saha

He doesn't have a lot of other options. It would surprise me if he went 4-4-2. Personally, I'd probably go for something similar, but I'd swap Heitinga and Neville around. The only other options we really have are Hibbert, Anichebe and Beckford.

I prefer us when we play 442 also and in the upcoming home games id like to see us play that , as long as the 2 doesnt involve Anichebe in any way.

Just for some reason away at them tomor i hope he goes 451. Lets just ope whatever he goes with, that the players actually turn up this time.
