Best Prem away day for a long long time for me.
The only down side was the 4 goals missing from our performance. If that had been 6-1 (at least), I don't think it would have flattered us at all. We were excellent going forward & looked solid at the back after their goal.
Can't believe Moyes took Beckford off for that other useless lump, added to the pressure we were under at the end not having an outlet, but saying that, since every Heitinga clearance found a Barcode directly, it probably made no difference.
But performance, atmosphere & banter, spot on.
I just wish I didn't have to wait until the Wigan match for my next away day, I just can't get enough......................

Re: the Beckford sub, I agree that Anichebe shouldn't be on a football field currently however I saw the sense in replacing Beckford, even if he did come close to scoring. Saha is far superior at holding up the ball and even though Louis wasn't on form finishing-wise, he played a key role for us and that's part of his game Beckford can simply not match.

What did people make of their day generally? I'm in Newcastle most days and I really like the place. Nearly all their fans are game for some banter.

My issue with taking off Beckford was that his pace was a constant problem for them and since they had to push so high up the field to chase the game, I thought he'd be the most likely to get chances. I also thought he'd be better at working the channels.
However, as I said, every ball Heitinga tried to play went straight to a Newcastle player, so I'm probably deluded on that one.
Saha I thought played well, but with a game on Wednesday, I'd like to have seen him come off for a blow, because let's face it, every minute he's moving is a minute closer to his next injury.
And Anichebe should never be on a football pitch again! I've said it before, fantastic physical specimen, but worst footballer I've ever seen in an Everton shirt. And that includes Brett Angell. And Claus Thomsen.

Newcastle is sound. People are sound, if a bit thick - I directly reference as we came from St James' park, the woman who driving up the hill screamed "Scouse [Poor language removed]" out of her car window before needing to stop 20 yards later at a queue of traffic waiting at a red light. Was very glad to see everyone ignore it.

Day out in Newcastle was great, from O`Niells to Yates then on to Sam Jacks, then to Idols, toon fans were great no grief whatsoever, decent football fans, even on the train home. I just can`t get enough...
