The Chermiti signing has to be one of the oddest in our recent history- and that takes some doing. Committing that level of transfer fee on a young striker who the manager has no intention of giving any minutes, even when his more senior players can’t score, when we are breaking financial rules. Like so many aspects of modern day Everton, utterly baffling.

Buying any player less than 25m is risk at this level.
