Newcastle Utd (and Viz)

When normality resumes so will the normal price of oil resume. People are being really disingenuous at pretending to not care about a Club about to get massive investment. It will be better, much better, for the excitement

Very disingenuous from a lot on the board saying they aren't concerned about Newcastle being overnight, one if not the, richest Club in the World. Any Club that has that financial clout is going to be a threat and make it even harder for those not thought to be in the hop four, to won trophies and qualify for Europe. Newcastle have a huge following, a fine stadium and with s big of investment in updating the stadium and training facilities plus buying more quality, they WILL have an impact. To think otherwise is denial of the facts. City, Liverpool, Man U, Chelsea , Spurs, Arsenal and an invested in Newcastle means just reaching the top 7 and qualifying for Europe extremely difficult. Gonna be good to watch though !!!!!

If PIF were gonna do a Man City - why give 20% of the club to a skint bimbo and two blokes who they have no links with?

I thought the Sheikh himself was buying you which was my worry as Man City/Chelsea and to a lesser extent ourselves are owned by rich people who want a play thing.

PIF stands for Public INVESTMENT Fund - the key word being Investment.

Its not the Public PLAYTHING Fund.

More than likely at best you'll be another Wolves but without the added benefit of having a super agent in your pocket to bring players like Jimenez, Neves, Moutinho, Patricio and their manager to the club on the cheap.

FFP stops a Man City from happening all over again - now its all about having the best manager and recruitment not the richest owners.

As much as I hate to admit it Liverpool are where they are because of fantastic recruitment and a world class manager - our owners are worth many more billions than theirs but means nothing when we have done nothing but throw big money around at tat as we havent CL football to attract the better players.

Still not great news for us regardless as any club with more money than before may be competition but I would rather Ancelotti as manager than Bruce when it comes to attracting/recruiting players.

The ground is outdated and poor. It looks comical. It's a fairly ornery location. It needs replacing, updating or they need to move.
Is that the Ground that came top in a poll of away fans best ground to visit. Fantastic City to visit and Ground uniquely for the Premiership, slap bang in the middle.ov the Town. Been there many times for a weekend and it's an outstanding City.

Who also allegedly has ties to both the Russian state and the Chinese state.
What, surely not challenging the notion that anyone who has ties with the Chinese and Russian States has human rights issues.? That would only be those " deluded Geordies " or as I suspect it is the fact that a Newcastle as would any Club in the PL who are heavily invested in will make it even harder for Everton to break into the top 6. Let's be real, only a Club with massive resources available will be able to compete with City or Liverpool. Newcastle / Everton have to have a better record than one of ocurrently, Arsenal, Spurs Man I just to break into the top 4, never mind challenge for the title.
They will still be the biggest joke in British football even if they got taken over.
So there, sniggers

Newcastle stadium is very average. They are years behind Everton. Theres very little evidence to say they spend more than Everton. Maybe they will, let's wait and see though.

Great post and you've just nailed it.

Oh and on oil price, it's not going back to normal any time soon. It will always massively impact upon Saudis decisions. The oil crisis is not going to normal anytime soon mate.

He doesn't seem as cautious now, no. But he's been covering Newcastle United for years and has preached caution over every takeover saga that has unfolded and unreavelled during Ashley's ownership. I think you're doing him a disservice when you claim he doesn't understand the reach of the Premier League.

Most of the journalists who've written about it seem to be of a similar opinion, that it is likely to go through, despite justified concerns raised Amnesty International and self-serving protests from BeIN.
Henry Winter Chief Football writer for the Times said:
"Everybody expecting #NUFCTakeover to be waved through. Several Premier League clubs still voicing concern over Saudi involvement, though. Ethics, broadcast deals, but also self-interest - fears of the threat of a well-funded, newly ambitious #nufc. "
George Caulkin of the Athletic said 4 days ago;
"Where do things stand? The Athletic has been told that all necessary documents have been exchanged between the two parties and that a deposit has been paid, with the Premier League now working through the owners’ and directors’ test, which effectively represents regulatory approval. Once that has been granted — it began around April 9 and they have been told it could take up to four weeks — completion of a £300 million sale becomes automatic. “There’s no stopping it now,” says one source, who insists that the owners’ and directors’ test has not yet raised any red flags. "

The only journalists I can find that are doubting whether it will go through are BeIN employed Keys and Gray.

I just mean the bit about the PL not having the means to stop it. Of course they do. They may not want too but they could.

Why would a sheikh or whatever it is not look at us with the new stadium and plough their money there. All the money in the world won't make Newcastle a big club who challenges for anything. Why not buy a sleeping giant and change the future?

Ancelotti or Steve Bruce. Jesus wept
It worked for City. Invested in heavily, similar Club to Newcastle, and they are probably on par with Liverpool and United as the biggest Clubs in the Country. Not saying they will, however, with investors who are worth £320 billion, should they spend big on qualify, it would not be a stretch of the imagination to see Newcastle winning things and as. consequence, be classed as " Big ". It's only money that makes you a big Club. City are testament to that. We all know Newcastle's woefull record over the last 5O years however, look at Everton's over the last 3O years. Nothing. City, got investment and won most trophies and you would have to be delusional not to think they aren't a far bigger Club than Everton. Because of money !. It does make me laugh, Geordies are called deluded and that they are never going to be a big Club but as of now, Everton are in the exact same position, exact. Decades without a trophy, and little on the horizon to suggest it's going to change. That's the REALITY.

Your fanbase punches horses.

Newcastle is a fun City. The ground is very ordinary and barely top 10 for facilities. Maybe you will get a new one?

Jesus.

They are worth 250bn. That will be greatly reduced with the oil crisis (the one you expect to return back to normal soon lol).

When City were bought out, it happened in a day, they didn't haggle over years around 40m, they didnt give liquidity away for others, or borrow money from Ashley to raise the funds.

Everton's owners have spent the 3rd most in football history. You will be doing well to have the investment we had. And we have not really gone anywhere with it. In fairness, we now have a top DOF and manager so probably just at the point we move forward, but it's taken 4 years to get there. It doesnt happen overnight anymore. Even for an investment level that is in the top 3 of English football history (which you will be doing well to emulate).

I'm not trying to be nasty, but what you expect is very unlikely to happen. Call it me being cruel to be kind. Maybe you emulate City and spends billions in the first couple of years. We will have any idea if you are by the end of the summer I suppose.

Having ties to a state is not the same as being the state. To be fair the Russian state has played an important and admiral role in combatting the craven butchery of the Saudi state in the area. They should be applauded for their role on taking a stand against such a state.
