So it turns out that Ashley’s statement yesterday was incorrect and literally nothing has changed since the Saudis waltzed off in July.

Well colour me shocked. Who could have possibly guessed that Ashley releasing a statement like that 3 days before the start of the season, and the day after the club funded 3 new signings, was nothing but a PR exercise to try and gain favour with the fanbase. Given the comments I’ve read from them today, it seems it’s worked perfectly and he’s played them like an expert violinist. They’re the thickest fanbase in the PL, as dense as granite.
