Yeah, he could have used villa as an example, okay Newcastle are smaller than villa also, but it would have made a better argument. When they last won the league it was the season before Dixie scored his 60 goals and 2 days after The Queen turned 1 year old.
They last won the FA Cup in 1955...the berlin wall hadn't even gone up, never mind come down

But hey they won The Inter City Fairs cup in1969...we still had pounds shillings and pence back then and we were still the world cup holders...that's like nearly recent for them.

I even forgot he played for the rs until I googled him. A man so anonymous, even his mum and dad wouldn't have known who he was on the pitch if they didn't recognise their name on his jersey. His career at Newcastle included a relegation and season in the championship (which they won apparently), so perhaps he meant top 6 there? I do have some sympathy for him though as he must have played under Fat Scam.
