Newcastle Utd (and Viz)

It's quite rare actually that one manager has managed both sides of a rivalry

Arry manged both Saints and Pompey

George Graham managed both Spurs and Arsenal

Samuel managed both Mags and Black Cats

Mourinho and Dave Sexton both managed Man United and Chelsea, but that's not much of a rivalry

Any obvious ones I'm missing?
Sir Steve Coppell had a short but serious mental derangement in c2001-02 and managed the vermin in between three times with us. Thankfully he brought them to Selhurst during this vile period and we duly clanked them 5-0.

Face hit with a frying pan
I remember Sharp meeting a far post cross to score, Bruce tried to stop him but got absolutely battered. Those things must take their toll. About 1988 I think, Nevin chipped in another. Always struck me as an honest player, Bruce, but how the hell has he survived so long as a manager, at so many clubs.

He writes a mean detective novel too.

What's happened with the Arab takeover?
They seem to have gone from the next Man City to Steve Bruce in a few short weeks.
The 'Takeover Scam" happens every year at Newcastle. All the fans demand Ashley out and refuse to buy season tickets, Ashley puts it about in the papers that he's in advanced talks to sell. Renewed with hope and encouragement there's a spike in Season ticket sales as they all want to be there when he's gone. In the last week of Preseason the 'talks break down' leaving Ashley in charge for another year.

Rafael would have stuck around surely?

Then again - I doubt he still wouldn't have turned down the wage offered by the Chinese - so better to go now and make it look like he didn't leave for the money and was forced out and loves the Geordies etc.
