Newcastle Utd (and Viz)

Christ, they’re not messing around.

Just seen there, Chris Wood… 2.5year deal .

Queue signing for us in the Championship in 2024. No 5 year deals like we offer.

Er, yeah? Obviously? lol We may never get there. Happy to be at least trying again, though. S'all we've ever asked for.

Jury's out on the manager; don't think he's a world beater but he's got a good philosophy and he's arrived at a dumpster fire. Hammond's a short-term appointment to get us through the window in the absence of literally any corporate footballing structure whatsoever after years of Ashley neglect. Ashworth would be a fantastic acquisition if it comes off. Trippier's objectively a great signing. Wood, at £25million, is pushing the panic button (with some justification; we haven't got any strikers).

The Mbappe stuff was always a cringe. Wood's a decent recruit; physical, reliable in front of goal, weakens a rival.

You were always trying to finish top 6. You now have a bit more cash. From our experience, having lots more cash saw us drop from broadly top 6, to bottom half, so you have to be careful what you wish for.

As for Trippier, at 31 and paying 12m + extras, objectively that's a hideous signing mate. It just screams to me of a club who has no idea how to spend money. Wood solidifies that, as does appointing a manager like Howe who has dragged you into the bottom 2.

Best case scenario looks to me, like you are going to spend a load of money, to remain a bottom half side to me.

The foundations they are laying look poor. That is not the basis to go on to win leagues etc.

Worth noting, Saudis own Sheffield United too, who are currently half way up the championship.

I think Trippier is outstanding business. Even at £12mil+ (rumoured £10mil+ in add ons) and a massive salary.

Newcastle must stay in the league. Thats their only current target.

Now they have a top right back and at worst the signing of Wood weakens Burnley.

For them, I think its imperative they bring in a centre back and defensive midfielder (same as us) then they should be able to pick up points.

Next season, they would still have Trippier and can build with younger players...but for now they need to remain in the premier league.

A we’ve found out though, when it comes to selling Trippier it all falls down as no one will match his salary.

Too many players like that and FFP becomes a massive obstacle.

They dont need or want to sell Trippier.
They don’t now when they’re second from bottom. They will in 12 months when they want to try and kick on but he’s knocking on to 33 and his legs have gone.

HeI’ll do a job for them in the championship though.

lol I know you've got an agenda but wew. We've been playing Jacob Murphy at RB most of the season so I reckon signing an England international - who also won La Liga last season - for the price you pay (these days) for a Championship player, is pretty solid business.

Wood's a panic buy. We have no strikers and he was available.

We were 19th when Howe arrived thanks to Ashley and Bruce. Like I say, jury's out, but we've gone from definitely going down to maybe going down, since his arrival. But I like that he doesn't routinely lie and belittle supporters.

Everything I've seen from you about Newcastle affairs has turned out wrong so I must admit to being enthused by this latest waffle. Experience suggests it's a pretty good indicator of the opposite!

If you needed a striker you were more than welcome to Tosun or Rondon.

I noticed your light on wingers, have an Iwobi on us.

You've got no chance of avoiding relegation with your current midfield, have a Delph, Davies & Gomes in 3 for the price of 1.

Short at cb? We can fix that with a Keane & Holgate buy one get one free special offer.

I'm surprised you've gone from thinking your definitely going down, to maybe going down. Still look like a team definitely going down to me. I suppose just a win or two and you'll be back in with a shout looking at the table.

I don't rate Howe at all, you should take Benitez back.

@maccavennie I'd have had Benitez back in a heartbeat cos he did well for us and had a good relationship with supporters, but I do think that ship has sailed.

Truthfully, I don't know what to make of Howe yet. He talks very well but talk is very cheap; the results haven't been good enough so far. That said, he's entered a club that's suffered years of neglect and is having to dig a broken team (full of players who know they're past their sell-by-date) out of a hole. The same excuse can be offered to the owners, who've joined an elite establishment whose corporate structure, previously, consisted of Lee Charnley - a glorified secretary.

We're years off being any sort of formidable force in the Premier League, we're just too far gone. It's a miracle that there are three other teams as bad/worse.

As things stand i think we can give you a run for your money at being a badly manages club that's been on the decline for years.

Barring a miracle ( and yes they have us next so miracles can happen ) Norwich look down and out. Watford and Burnley struggling along with yourselves. If our run continues we'll certainly be dragged right into a dogfight as well.

They have been basically theira month the owners, already talking about foundations looking poor.

You honestly think a club owned by another human rights abusing dictatorship in the PL who needs a Sportswashing project is going to be happy being in the bottom half haha.

This will be a gradual trajectory, they'll appoint the best people in positions, just like City did, they had Mark Hughes as coach, Brian Marwood as DoF and Gary Crook as CEO the first 18 months of Mansour's ownership.

Then they threw money at those three positions and got Mancini as coach, then they raided Barcelona the best club at the time and took their DoF Txiki Begiristain and CEO Ferran Soriano.

The Saudi who owns Sheffield United is a lone prince who's worth around £200 million, you do know that they are 16000 princes in the House of Saud, I'm guessing from that worth is father was the brother of asking of 3rd previous king( Saudi kings don't reign long ow, they have terrible genetic health conditions I won't have to explain why with 25000 members in the House of Saud).

MBS who owns NUFC is the defacto leader of Saudi, his oil company Aramco makes $400 billion every 3 months.

Five years NUFC will be an established CL team and after that be title contenders.
