A first-choice England full-back who's just won La Liga and was adored by Diego Simeone; a fairly dependable striker who routinely scores double-figures in the PL; a Brazilian international centre-mid and one of the most wanted prospects on the continent; and a decent CB being taken out of one of the best defences in the league.
Upgrades in every single case, which was the most important thing. Been nice to pick up another one or two like; we've certainly given ourselves a fighting chance of staying up regardless, if only due to the scale of the upgrades on what we had.

The problem is you've spent around £83 million and the team is still light years away from the top 6 never mind top 4.
Thats when the reality soon dawns on the Newcastle fans expecting a title push in the next few years of the farce that FFP is as you simply cant afford the players that really push you up there (not just the fees but the wages).
