Newcastle Utd (and Viz)

In a couple of years time I think they will be consistently in the top 8. They have some work to do on their infrastructure. Their training ground was one of the worst in the league. You can bet your bottom dollar in a few years they will have one of the best. Interesting to see if they will stay at St James long term as I believe stadium development is pretty restricted on the site. Although a move would be unpopular imo

Good enough for the richest club in the world?

The drawbridge has been lifted by profit and sustainability. All their sponsorship deals will come under huge scrutiny. They have some leeway for a couple of seasons but if they get it wrong and struggle to obtain European football they will become handicapped like we are and like I think Villa are soon to be if they don’t deliver this season

It’s a different time now. The top teams have made it extremely difficult for any new player to come along. 15 years ago they’d expect a title in 3-4 years. Doubt most geordies will see a title in their lifetimes. Particularly given the staple diet of Steak Bakes and Fosters lager. Most probably won’t see the start of the season.

They've got £200mill to spend before they even get anywhere near FFP regs and have taken a loan out based on future earnings.

They have leg room to make a statement signing (like chasing Maddison now). But first they have to get over the hurdle of attracting talent. Then it's paying the money. Villa got Coutinho, Digne, Bailey as a few European names for example.

It'll take time and they could be a decent outfit. But a threat to the top 4? Nah. They've got Spurs, West Ham, Leicester to get near first.

200 mill gets 4 ok players for them.
Not particularly arsed anyways. I loved living in the north east but Newcastle will always have to pay an extra premium to get players to move there and they had a tonne of cash thrown around during the Hall era and they still consistently bottled it due to the kind of players they get in.

This isn't a straight league though and the potential funds they could bring to the table are making the PL drool.

Oh yeah. All I'm saying is this "new era" getting Mbappe richest club in the world jazz is a bit of a damp squid. False dawn's.

More chance of us blowing another £200mill up the wall than these will

The game of Football is all but gone, isn't it?

Won't be long before it's being described as entertainment rather than sport. With the winners determined before hand, the game all about the spectacle. As the investors get what they paid for

All the while the fans clap like happy seals because they have won/will win something.

To any Newcastle fan reading this; what price, the soul of Football?

Pro wrestling was real many many years ago before the organisers realised they could make more money by scripting the outcome.

Notice how the number of years hasn't been disclosed? Another eight-year Pardew style contract, I wonder?
This is something I noticed straight away. I'd be very surprised if they offered him a contract of such length because, surely, they'll eventually be aiming to replace.

His first contract was until 2024, so maybe they've extended that with the caveat of certain conditions because otherwise why not state how long.
