Newcastle Utd (and Viz)

Yeah it's early days like I said for both Howe and Newcastle, but you must admit it looks very promising for the latter of last season and all of this one so far.

The place has had a change in culture and the players know they're fighting for their future at the club knowing the immense wealth their owners have.

It's why for me I only want Mosh Man to sell to a gulf state as thats the only way that we can go on to truly compete for silverware and CL consistently these days.

I hate saying this believe me, but Liverpool are not owned by a gulf state and they are doing all right, it's a mixture of things, having the right manager for one with stability another.

You get the feeling Newcastle are riding a wave of positivity in the way we were in Martinez's 1st season and Leicester when they won the title.

Almeiron is playing like the likes of Wes Morgan and Danny Drinkwater.

It'll come to an end at some stage then they'll turn on Howe as I dont think he's a manager thats going to have them competing for europe every season.
This is my take on it. He's working wonders with them, but so did Claudio Ranieri before the wheels fell off. I have an inkling this will happen at Newcastle, too.

The issue is, however, they'll have the money to bring in a top name. There'll be peaks and troughs, but in the end I suspect they'll end up competing.

Liverpool are part of the elite though mate. Even when they were "bad" bad for them/Utd etc is finishing 7th.
This is where the irony of FFP comes into play, where the clubs with historic and generous revenue streams are able to sit pretty while others can't compete.

FSG is a double-edged sword: they provide great stability and business acumen, which means they squeeze a lot of money out of what they generate.

While they may not be able to compete directly with the likes of City, they're way above the others - even the likes of Spurs. They'll never, ever truly suffer.

Eventually though, Newcastle, like City, will outspend the likes of Liverpool because the Saudi owners want prestige, not profit.

That's when they'll get Poch etc in. He'll set foundations
Actually, I think he builds on others foundations, that's what he did at Southampton and Spurs.
He 'failed' at PSG because there were no real foundations, just an assembled mish-mash of names
So, that said, he might just be the man to succeed Howe... but not for a 12-18 mths or so

That's what I mean. Howe will set some foundations. Get them top 10, Europe this season and possibly next. Fans will get restless cos they're not in the top 4, Howe will get the boot... someone like Poch will come in.

Probably a bit in this.

Next season they will be expected to challenge for the title, so there will be a lot more pressure on.
