BFS has not promised anything immediately but solidity, confidence and points. How much more could we honestly ask for. The defeats wen saw only last month where light years from the gritty almost dogs of war performance. We are playing cup footy every week. I prefer to win and creep up the table. Confidence brings win, etc
Not 89% possession, so the football purists deem the 3 points lost apparently.

Given how utterly shabbite they were at the back I reckon we should've made more of an effort to try and put the game to bed in the second half.... but meh, a wins a win, and the first away one in donkeys at that! Very happy.

Big difference with Williams right now is that he isn't being forced to play a system he is uncomfortable playing in.

You can tell he has been given the duty of 'No nonsense defender' and Holgate the more passing minded defender.

Which is exactly how it should be. You cant shoehorn a player without technical ability into playing that way, and a side-effect of doing so is the knock in their confidence and them looking like a shadow of the player.

Good to see Williams back defending well

Williams and Kenny were outstanding out there tonight. Kenny MOM for me, but really run closely by Williams who looks like a completely different player over the past three weeks, crazy.

Gueye and Schneiderlin for me were terrible. So lucky in the first half to not be punished for their lazy, sloppy midfield play with Newcastle hitting the woodwork twice.

DCL not really in the game but won't slate him, very little to feed off tonight. Rooney did fine, poacher's goal, well done.

Martina looked erratic but hey, he's part of a defence that somehow is working as a unit and keeping clean sheets. Holgate was decent for me, albeit with a few rash decisions. Sigurdsson pretty anonymous unfortunately and Lennon was poor for me, although he did win the header that led to the goal.

Pickford... had nothing to do really, but looked very assured when coming out, punching, collecting, etc.

Awful first half, somehow went in with the lead, and sturdy and looked like we wouldn't buckle under the pressure in the second half. A great feeling to get the points - COYB!

This is what Sky internet site says:
"Gome's cross from the right is brilliant, it bounces up in front of Solanke, comes off his arm and goes past Foster for what seems to be his first Liverpool goal...
All Liverpool players are celebrating, West Brom players are fuming, and it seems the assistant referee has overruled the decision!
It's rather harsh on Solanke, if that is being deemed as a deliberate handball!"

So it goes in off his arm. Obtained an advantage from a 'handball'. But let's ignore that, eh, it's the RS. We'll probably hear about that, together with all the whingeing, for the next 3 months.

norwegian match report is: " liverpool goal disallowed for handball. correct decision. "
