...vault me, I was very nervous about him at CB in a flat back four but he’s been terrific these last few games. Chuffed with him. It’s surprises me that he is a die for the cause player as well as having a bit of quality.

...we’re still not playing well but I thought we looked very comfortable in the 2nd half. I’m sure Allardyce fancied nicking another goal which is why he brought Vlasic on. I’m sure he’d be happier if we carried more threat and he might be seeing that from Vlasic in training.

I like what he’s done to be honest. We were shipping goals like anything, but he’s clearly made his first job to shore up and sort the defence out. That way you at least get a point.

Then we have enough half decent attackers who may well, and are, robbing the odd goal to get us points.

We just look more professional now and I like it.

...I would add that he and the new coaches appear to have given the place a lift. I think it’s the attention to detail. I was talking to one of the ground staff at USM FF and he wasn’t happy that Allardyce had the team training at night in preparation for night games.

I’d give them 9/10 for the defensive aspects of the game but only 5/10 for what we do with the ball. I expect the latter will improve with wins because the players become more confident. It’ll be a boost when injured players return and a few new signings come in. The signs are good. Boing, Boing Toffees, let the bounce continue.

Will give Allardyce his due he did say we have to be better with the ball. IMO that means better movement and quick passing. Even Schneiderlin last night at times was passing forward quicker because the player had moved into space. As far as the defensive side goes, he said he is baffled why we were so bad, - like most of us.

The lad Calvert-Lewin, who has been instrumental in our turn around in fortunes, has to be a bit more savvy when the ball comes to him - get his body in the right position to protect the ball as Kevin Davies did at Bolton. Calvert-Lewin is getting better and has wonderful control with his feet, I would assume Allardyce will have him on the training ground with Ferguson to improve. Can see Allardyce getting another CF in during this transfer window, though. Either as the main striker or as a two.

As far as training at night and players being happy. It was reported the other day, that he asked the players if they wanted to be here or something like that. I know it's early days but the games can't come quick enough now for me, were before it wasn't.
