They were caught completely unprepared for such a dramatic fall off in form.
You could argue we all were, but the board are our custodians, it’s their job to be ready.
Koeman was sacked weeks too late also, we could already have gained a few points under a replacement and thingsmay have been looking better.
This is essentially why we are down to Allardyce / Dyche.
A club that made such a balls of its single biggest spend was never going to have contingency plans for a manager.
They could have been trying to meet Tuchel or someone else on the QT in advance of the decision to sack Koeman.
Our reputation stands at a new low and anyone of high quality doesn’t want to be associated with that.
I must admit to being in the dark about some aspects of Allardyce and the impact he leaves on a club. Fair enough, I respect those concerns expressed by folk here who care like me about the club.
With each shambolic defeat though, we fall deeper into the mire. Rather not have Sam here but feel we are genuinely gambling with our PL status if we don’t get someone in who is used to things at this end of the table.
Don’t torture yourselves with Ancelotti, Tuchel etc. They are not coming here. I flip between Allardyce and Dyche every day and it’s a hideous choice, no choice at all.
I’d be as confident as I could be in staying up with Sam but his would be an appointment that carries huge baggage.
I’m not sure that Dyche would keep us up. Perhaps. Hell it doesn’t take much to be Everton manager these days.
What this is in fact is chickens coming home to roost for Kenwright and a final reflection of 18 years of rank amateurishness and incompetence.
