Just another point on Unsworth staying on that I haven’t seen mentioned at all and that is Joe Royle being involved in this set up.

I have a very long memory like some on here and people will remember Royles managerial time at the club here which was a period of pride, hope and success.

For me he is probably one of the most understated, understated and unacknowledged managers in England over the past 30 years. He is part of this set up, we are talking about the man, who was born in the shadow of a Goodison, who played and starred for Everton as a teenager, won trophies here, performed miracles at Oldham as a manager, the man who won our last major trophy and rebuilt the club from utter ash, the man who really saved Manchester City football club.

Joe Royle is a living breathing Everton legend both as a player and manager and not by profile but by success at this club.

If your asking me to I want a Dyche or a Allardyce over an Unsworth/Royle ticket, really it’s not even a contest.

When we talk about a managers that get Everton, we have a living legend and probably the biggest and most successful living Evertonian, involved in this set up.

That’s why I’m backing Unsworth, do not underestimate Joe Royle, his talent and his influence, I back him wholly.

Great post and spot on about big joe.

However it's sentiment clouding judgement exactly what most blues had before unsworth got going.

Royle is a legend and one of the best blues in history no doubt. This doesn't give him the capability in today's game to manage us.

He's yesterday's manager. He makes moyes and his techniques look cutting edge.

It would be a disaster going with royle. A romantic sentiment which makes no sense at all. Back to the 'he gets us' nonsense that makes us feel warm but ultimately never achieve anything of note.

Crazy.

Any chance Burnley has just had a good start to the season and perhaps they aren't going to be anywhere near the top 4 come may?

You would think it was may hearing some people talk about Burnley this season. So many teams have been up there so early on and fallen away. Jesus Blackpool looked fantastic until November when they came up, hull under Phil Brown looked fantastic by October and I think won one more game for the rest of the season

It's clutching at straws to base anyone's record as manager being good enough for the level we aim to be at on 12 games in 5 years. Because that's what it is, no-one wanted the championship dyche , no-one wanted the bottom half dyche, they just want the top half after 12 games dyche .

People need to look at the overachievement aspect of a manager. Burnley’s salary’s are less then many in the championship - yet they are competing in the premier league. This shows that players will run through walls for him.
People say well what has he won? - but it’s all relative. To keep Burnley up is huge achievement.
You only have to look at the stadium to recognise this is not a premier league club

I've heard this phrase a lot, or words to that effect.
Not criticising you for it, but can you or somebody explain why it's so important to be modern? Exactly what has changed? And when?

I won't ever be sold on opta stat driven football, so swerve that explanation please!

I agree with everything you said there, but teturns are almost never happy in football. Joa has his day with us, i think bringing him back would be wrong, simply because of how unlikely it is he would be able to replicate his first stint with us.nothing to do with age, just to do with the fact that 'comebacks' so rarely succeed

Bielsa would be a big gamble. His teams play amazing football, however, he's not a serial trophy winner, plus he's highly combustable and prone to walking if he doesn't see eye to eye with the board. couldn't see him towing the line with our boards incompetence for very long. Still though he's credited with being very influential on Guariola klopp etc with his style of play.

I've watched lille three times this season and they have been terrible each time. Everton bad.

Yes more likely he's getting sacked than coming to us. Just thought it was an interesting link. The silence is so deafening that journos are clutching at straws left right and centre. Abysmal by this board right now. Can't say I'm impressed with moshiri at all.

If Big Joe is assisting Unsworth in a personal capacity then it's his choice but I think it would be unfair to expect him to take up a formal role and I don't think that will happen anyway. It's too much to ask in my opinion and I would rather Joe have no association with the mess we are in currently after such outstanding service to us.

100% mate! Spot on! Each day as this pathetic lot trun up at Finch Farm, we should have a big armchair each side of the gate, with Joe Royle in one and Colin Harvey in the other doing the w4nker sign as each of the drive in! :/
