Thats why a short term appointment of fat sam isnt going to work as what is the point of him bringing in a forward the next fella wont want.

No mate it's sound apparently becsuse it's only a short term thing and Allardyce won't ask for about 100m to spend on players in January becsuse he will get this current lot defending like A.C. Milan of the 80's and scoring goals like they were going out of fashion.

He said he would be interest in speaking to us. He did say that previously things can and do change In football mate

True but to me that's screams another Koeman who thinks he's bigger than the club.

No doubt he's better than Koeman...but you have to admit he's an unknown quantity.

If it were after Martinez or we had more points on the board with a good team not clicking, there's leg room to make that appointment.

We're not in that position.

Sad there's no real noise about Tuchel, though that may be due to our fantastic negotiating skills. The trouble with appointing anyone else currently available is it will feel like time (and money) wasted, even if they get us to mid table.

A little like out-of-contract strikers, out-of-contract managers are so for a reason.

I'll take 3 managers in 12 months as long as it stabilises the club. We could go for a long term foreign manager but what if that doesn't come off? Juande Ramos almost relegated Spurs once, people forget that.

3 managers in 12 months? We are about to have 3 managers in 12 weeks mate and Ramos has been mentioned in this thread loads of times. There is risk with every appointment but at least go for an appointment that all the fanbase can get behind and buy into

You'll never find that, people are always going to have their doubts regardless. We just need to get behind whoever is appointed even if it's Big Sam. The team are already bottlers last thing we need is a hostile Goodison, otherwise we'll be down by March.

If it's to be Allardyce then for the purpose of longer term planning it should only be until next May and it should also be with Unsworth as Assistant Manager. Unsworth needs the experience and he'd learn a lot from Allardyce, if only about defensive organisation.

Maybe not all the fanbase but you will get the majority happy to support a manager. I didn't want Martinez and I'm sure others didn' but we got behind him.

If Allardyce came I'd be shocked if more than 30% of our fanbase supported an appointment like that

Allardyce won't take a half-season deal mate, and that's the issue.

Allardyce on a short-term deal just risks the players remaining in not-arsed mode.

And he would never take it himself.

Keep us up and then bugger off is not the best sales pitch.

Let's just have done with it and give it to Dyche.

My personal view is that he would take the rest of the season, but we wants to bring his entire crew with him and he'll need to give them more stability than just a 7 months in order to get them all to come with him.

It's going to be Dyche imo.

Not even for £3m......he must be a very rich man.

Why pay him that?

See this is the problem, we're panicking after 10 games. There's ages to go. The season we finished fourth, I think we got 19 points after the 19 game mark. We won't get to that level but equally, it's not the doom that people are suggesting.

Appointing that crook essentially tells people 'we're panicking, we'll pay panic money in January for players he wants, and forget any decent football for the rest of the season'.

People go on on about the Bolton to Europe 'achievement' but he hadn't been appointed as a relegation 'fixer', so he was allowed to experiment with bringing in older players from abroad; he could do so because he massively loaded the contracts. This all happened over a decade ago. It happened in 2004-2005 in a league so weak, you could finish 4th with 61 points.

Anyone know who managed it that season?

Think it was the other way round mate. We had a really good first 19 then only got about 20 points the second half of the season but everyone else was crap and couldn't catch us. I may be wrong though.
