He's the standout candidate for me, said I wanted him months ago and nothing has changed. Obviously Mourinho would of been amazing but this is potentially great news.

Also I'd love to see the faces of Carragher, Merson, Le Tissier, Alan Brazil and many others who questioned why anyone would leave Southampton for Everton.

Must agree. Koeman wouldn't have made my shortlist a month ago, but wiping the smug smirk off some faces if he joins us will be an early bonus.

Don't forget Ian Wright and Ray Wilkins. Wilkins even went a step further and actually said Southampton were the "bigger club".

The mind boggles.

Ahh good old Ray Wilkins, i remember when they use to announce him as Ex- Man United, now he always gets announced as Ex Chelsea and Man United, strange how he only bothered saying that after Chelsea started winning things rather than being a yo yo club

Ray Wilkins - Ex Man United and Chelsea, played as many games for QPr yet strangely never gets called ex QPR at all...

Ray Wilkins, played for 11 seasons at Man United and Chelsea combined and won 1 FA Cup in a replay over the might Brighton - as both teams where utter gash when he played for them

Personally wouldn't like Joe has the DoF but would want him involved at the level, being an old head for the manager and DoF, explaining what the club us, what the fans require and demand from there team.

The man is a gent and not one person thinks bad of him, valuable addition for a new manager imo
