I don't want Moyes back but if it were between the four candidates listed above and the job was a manager rather than a head coach then he'd be the best candidate.

He's the only one who has performed this role. Everyone else has been a head coach within an infrastructure rather than driving 150 miles to scout left backs from Bristol City on a Tuesday night.

My first choice remains Emery but I'd definately have Moyes back in a director of football role, though I'm sure he wouldn't take it.
Well let's disagree. Should never be allowed to set foot at our club again.

I'm sure the club were planning for the succession in the full knowledge that Mourinho was a very remote possibility anyway. Pellegrini seems to have gone off the radar, so on the face of things it seems it's either Koeman or De Boer.

Would prefer Koeman in that scenario due to his experience. De Boer announcing he was going to Valencia or elsewhere next week would really set the cat amongst the pigeons, and increase the pressure on Moshiri to get Koeman IMO as his preferred option. AC Milan now likely to be looking for a new coach too (Rudi Garcia now being linked there).

If there is a "3rd" option (discounting Pellegrini) being considered would obviously love to know who that is. I would imagine now that things have crystallised as far as the boards thinking is concerned and a lot of names have been ruled out. They must be down to the final 2-4 candidates you would hope. Perhaps Esk will have an update by next weekend.

The unknown is intriguing and exciting - particularly the prospect of someone making a late challenge to get the job who wouldn't have been touted initially (aside from the likes of O'Neill, Hughes, Howe and their ilk). I hope the search firm have earned the money being paid to them, I wouldn't think much of them if they presented a list of possibilities without Unai Emery on it.

Hope that things get sorted in the next fortnight. There is a lot of work to be done.

Now the Mourinho move has been made I expect things to start speeding up. Koeman and De Boer will not wait around too much longer and we will have to make our minds up.

I wouldn't discount new names on the list emerging. I hope we go for De Boer, but wouldn't mind Koeman. The left field shoulds of Favre/Emery would be good too while I hope we didn't go for Moyes/Pellegrini.

A pragmatist would be nice after Bobby play the same bloated, nonentity of a formation, with the same personnel every game.

Koeman is very pragmatic and has changed his formation and players regularly, depending on the opposition, this season. It'd be cool to have a manager who's actually analysing the upcoming opposition each week, and proactively looking at the best way to acquire three points.

FDB sounds too similar to RM from what little I've read and seen.

If he's not good enough, how come de Boer is for some?

He has achieved nothing of note. 4 league titles yes - in the Eredivisie which is roughly equivalent to the Championship (I'd argue the Championship is more competitive).

If de Boer was an English manager who had won the Championship with a few teams a few times in his career, any suggestions for him would be laughed off.

You don't get championship teams performing as PSV have done in Europe this season mate.

The Championship is far more competitive

Not liking the look of that poll anymore. None of them would really feel exciting. Does Moyes have to be there though??

The only good thing about Mourinho going to Utd is that the press will be having a wnk fest over him and Utd. Might give us breathing space to chase our first choice.
I think we'll be trying to look for the best option regardless of what the media are doing to be honest.

According to the Saintsweb ITK's, Pelle, Mane, Tadic, Wanyama and Juanmi all want out. Not much on Koeman but their fans seem to be under the impression that he wont sign a new contract - but will see his final year out.

Maybe he wants assurances from the Saints board that he will get the money from sales + more to add quality and if he doesnt, we may give him that.

You realise all that has changed here, today, is me removed one option - Mourinho - given he's going to Man Utd?

I'm then leaving as is, which is 5 options - 4 managers who the bookies on average consider to be the most likely, plus 'other'. I'll remove Moyes when he's confirmed to Villa - until then, whether we like it or not, no matter how outside of a chance we think it is - he's considered in contention and a lot of fans would have him back;

26% (1200+) voted 'Yes' to wanting him back.

Hang on. Moyes only has 3% votes. What 26%?? 23 votes, the majority of which are just wumming.

Just to clarify mate.
