If we eliminate the entertainment factor. Utd came 4th and 5th and won the FA Cup in two seasons. Do you think that's a bad achievement with their squad? I don't.

That doesn't take into consideration how well the money was spent but we have no idea how much he was even involved in that. What is certain is when Utd come calling every team whacks on another 5m or 10m to the price.
yes. He has mismanaged the squad, the training has apparently been poor, and he has not managed transfers at all well.

he has been very poor. A great manager would have that team doing better.

Hope it's not Koeman, remember Him getting Craig Short sent off in the ufea cup or what ever it was called after we won the fa cup in 95. My first European away game!!

Don't ask why, because I don't know why - but I just don't "get" Koeman. Just a feeling in my bones that he's not the right man for the job.

Don't get me wrong - I wouldn't be dead against him if he ended up with the job, I'd get behind him and give the guy a chance - but it just doesn't excite me.

I would have to stick with my gut and (now Mourinho is out of the picture), stick with FdB (and the rumour of the possibility of Overmars as DoF is intriguing). Whoever comes in (and if the DoF post is brought in at the same time), we need a pairing who either currently work together or who at least get on and respect eachother.

I have opposite view. I feel that he would suit us perfectly

In real terms, when do people actually think we will appoint a new boss, should he be here soon to scout euro 2016 etc,or willl we wait to early July and so on,the sooner the better for me,so we dont have to put up with links to everyone, then get our hopes up to then have them go down, dont want the new boss role playing out like we do transfers etc

Well Emery's season will be done in a few hours, so I'm sure we will have him signed up by tea time tomorrow

Any manager who is so underprepared that he would need to use the Euro's to scout players in i wouldn't want near my club, was an interesting quote from Mourinho the other day along those lines, basically saying that their is absolutely no players in a major tournament that managers don't know about anymore

Also any purchase made purely on the back of a players form in a major tournament usually turns out to be a watse of money

Only advantage in having someone in before it, would be a player the manager already wanted who goes to have a good tournament thus driving any asking price up and also getting more interest from other less clued up managers/owners

Cold light of day, Emery would be the single best signing for the club we could make, Mourinho yeah been wanting him for a whilst, but his last season at Chelsea until he proves otherwise ofc will always be a massive worry, rarely seen a TOP manager lose a set of players so utterly and completely in the matter of 3 months - end of season till the doctor incident

Emery - only one negative would be the language barrier - remember reading he had taken then abandoned english lessons a few years back, maybe he will have some understanding in it then, also IF he got a very good number 2 in who was bilingual then would masively lesson any issue till he gets his English up a level - Arteta wants to go into coaching - get the little spaniard here

Everton are due to hold talks this week with Unai Emery with the Sevilla coach a leading contender to replace Roberto Martinez as manager at Goodison Park.

Emery led Sevilla to a third successive Europa League title on Wednesday when the Spanish club beat Everton's fierce Merseyside rivals, Liverpool, 3-1 in Switzerland.

Sevilla are also due to face Barcelona in the final of the Copa del Rey tonight and Emery's impressive achievements have won considerable admiration among the Everton hierarchy as they search for a new manager to take the club forward after a bitterly disappointing season under Martinez.

Everton are expecting to meet with Emery in the next 72 hours. It is unclear if the Spaniard is the club's first choice but they are keen to establish his interest in moving to England and any plans he has.

Ronald Koeman, the Southampton manager, and Frank De Boer, who is a free agent after leaving Ajax this month, have also been heavily linked with the job. The outgoing Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini is available, too.

Ronald De Boer has already spoken of his brother's desire to join Everton.

Emery has a reputation for being an intense workaholic but he is popular among his players and West Ham United were interested in appointing him before Slaven Bilic succeeded Sam Allardyce in east London.

He has spoken in the past of being interested in working in the Premier League and can converse in English.

Everton finished the season in 11th, 19 points adrift of fourth place, and were beaten in the League Cup semi-final by Manchester City and FA Cup semi-final by Manchester United.

The Merseyside club won just two of their final 11 league games under Martinez and face a battle to keep defender John Stones, midfielder Ross Barkley and striker Romelu Lukaku this summer.

Would like Emery if José is definitely off.

Can't see it happening though so I've voted for pellegrini out of the choices above...if he goes to zenit then I honestly don't know.

Don't want Koeman or De Boer.
