The guy was the first ever manager to win 4 league divisions in a row in his first 4 seasons and has brought through a host of stars including the likes of Suarez and Eriksen. Even last year he went from a 16 point deficit behind PSV the previous season to losing it on the last day. He also hasn't had any money to spend and had to rely on academy players and cheap signings. Ajax scored 81 goals and only conceded 21 last season by far the best defensive record in the league and the best overall goal difference. PSV the other big team where only eliminated from the champions league on penalties by A Madrid which shows the standard isn't as rubbish as made out to be. Before managing the first team he ran Ajax's academy and was a top player winning everything with Barca and Ajax and has played under the best managers and in the same team as Guardiola who he shares a similar style with.

Frankly I am bemused why we haven't already hired him but where ever he goes he will be a top coach. Shame it won't be for us.

Totally agree mate. Think he would be a good fit for our youthful squad. He could also bring some talent with him and possibly some big name coaches. That, and he's actually interested in the job. It's a shame his style gets falsely pigeon-holed as Martinez-like so people unfairly dismiss him without actually having a clue or looking into it themselves, or the even lazier route - dismiss the dutch league as a piece of wee.

Maybe there is a reason he's still the bookies favourite though. I don't believe we have zero interest.

Get FDB in before the euros, he can remind all our 'superstars' who they are contracted to, and how things will be next season.
Any other thoughts for our manager are whimsical fantasy for a club with our current profile, a Chilean David Dickinson or a backwards step.

13m Niasse plus close to 1.5m wages taking him to the summer.

6m Kone plus probably 6m in wages over three years.

13m McCarthy plus let's say another 6m in wages over three years.

Let's say a total of 5m on Robles.

McCarthy was a success in first season, pathetic in last two. So that's around 50m on players who've proven to be - mostly - a waste of space. Oh and let's not forget Alcaraz.

Based on absolutely nout I've got a feeling we'll end up with Pellegrini. Would be a decent appointment I'm sure. Part of me really wants a 'run down the touch line mentalist' type manager like Emery though. Just got a feeling he's using us for a better Sevilla deal.
