It isnt 100% accurate, with proxy servers, work networks, and the like. But sometimes, based on times, dates, and provider used, it can be pretty reliable.

Now a serious IT geek could probably lay false trails I would imagine, (like I would know that ffs), but unlikely.

Not sure about the legal side, especially if you are watching commercial media that is licensed to a specific teritory. Not that it stops me, I quite often use US Netflix (selection is so much better) via Avast on my iPad.
