AZ, Valencia,Benfica fans and players didnt perform for him.

None of southamptons top players wanted to stay and play under him.
Players stayed with us under moyes.

Some did. We lost the very best ones though.
Lescott, Rooney, Arteta, etc

But we're not a fair comparison - we're a bigger club that pays better than Southampton. Under Moyes we consistently finished in the top 8 and managed to placate the likes of Jags and Baines with that.

It's only very very recently that Southampton have suddenly overtaken Everton in the league. And guess who was in charge when they did it?

Hes failed everywhere bar his last 2 jobs.

That's not everywhere then is it?

PSV[edit]
In the 2006–07 season, Koeman served as head coach of PSV, as successor to Guus Hiddink. PSV dominated the first season half, keeping competitors AZ and Ajax at a reasonable distance, and PSV seemed almost destined to become champions again. However, PSV suffered in the second half of the season, also because of injuries of players Jefferson Farfán, Alex and Ibrahim Afellay, obtaining only 19 out 39 possible points.[17] AZ and Ajax regained their momentum, making for a close finish, with all three teams tied at 72 points before the last competition day. AZ played struggling Excelsior in their final match, but did not manage to win. Ajax played at Willem II, but did not score enough goals; it was PSV eventually who triumphed, winning at home 5–1 against Vitesse Arnhem, and thereby becoming Eredivisie champions, one goal ahead of Ajax.

Bore off Zat, you're not even giving him a chance. It's even more pathetic given your staunch defense of a man who clearly wasn't up to the job and had us drifting towards relegation. Your criticism of Koeman is based on years old evidence which, would you believe it, people can actually learn from their mistakes.

He's a better premier league manager than Martinez. Let that sink in, then get behind the man.

Why should i give him a chance?

Not good enough just like Aiden McGeady,Alcaraz and Kone....i'm calling it.

2 years max with us before the wheels come off.

@Zatara

There's still the reported DoF to consider. If we were to get Monster Monchi maybe some of your fears might be alleviated. Koeman's done good work in the PL over the last two years and, if the structure of the club around him is right, there's every chance he'll be able to improve us significantly.

There's something significant in how Moshiri has pursued Koeman, apparently the first choice manager from the start. When Arsenal identified Wenger as their man he was managing in Japan, having previously relegated Nancy and being sacked by Monaco. Yet they were confident he was the right character for the club. Perhaps something similar is happening here.

If this does happen, wait for all the Martinez lovers to start sticking knives into Koeman and Moshiri - some just can't wait !

They were favourites fpr the league and imploded with AZ throwing away the title.

How did he do the following season.

When man city first became bankrolled with a lot more " billions" than we have, they got in Mark Hughes. That for all their riches, was what their profile as a club could get them at that time in their development. Don't forget they also had a ready built new ground. Then when their profile and league position got larger, they upgraded to Erickson, then onto Mancini. Progression it takes time, money and growth of your profile as a club. Believe me Koeman is a better start than Mark Hughes and if we can get in someone like Monchi......
Brilliant post mate. We are at the beginning of a long term strategic rebuild programme which requires expertise and patience.

And what has he achieved since joining Tottenham? Other than coming close (but failing) to win a league that was up for grabs by any club with enough fight to grab it. Not saying either him or Koeman are awful managers, but I see little reason why they deserve so much fanfare.
They came second on a negative net spend using young players and came very close to winning the league mate.
