I'm really trying to get excited about koeman but Southampton apart his record is a bit... Meh!!
Suppose he has to be given a chance and at least he knows how to defend

Everton
Aston Villa
Bolton Wanderers
Stoke (later renamed Stoke City}
Accrington (different club from Accrington Stanley)
Blackburn Rovers
Burnley
Derby County
Notts County (oldest existing club)
Preston North End
West Bromwich Albion
Wolverhampton Wanderers
And next season is our 114th or 115th season in top flight I think

Southampton fan -
Some serious rule breaching gone on here. At no point have Everton contacted Southampton and asked their permission to speak with their currently contracted manager. Absolutely disgraceful behaviour and I hope that they are taken to the cleaners for it.

I like this new us.
Yeah, don't you hate it when the big clubs come in like that...

I don't think any normal football fan would argue about the different size and history of our two Clubs but, you can't argue the last 3 or 4 years our two clubs have been traveling in 2 different directions. And as I've said before history itself doesn't guarantee future success!

Personally speaking, I'd be cautious in trying to extrapolate 2 years' worth of success into the future. Especially relative to a side that has clearly been underperforming quite considerably.

The fact that we performed poorly on the pitch over the last two seasons may make it seem like we are a club in turmoil with major rebuilding needed but that is not the case at all. We've got an excellent youth set up with some very strong young players coming through (look out for Davies, dowell and holgate over the next couple of seasons), a new owner with big plans and excellent resources and business connections (we are bringing in some very skilled people at board level) and for the first time in a long time, we aren't going to be swimming against the time financially. The infrastructure is improving too. We have one of the top training facilities in football and we are exploring a new ground on the waterfront of a city that is doing very well after years of stagnation.

It may be some time since out last trophy but it's probably been one of the darkest periods in our history. That being said, this club knows what it is to be successful.

I'm not saying Southampton haven't done very well at all by the way.

But compare the two clubs over the last 30 years (our worst period and one of your best) and we've had higher league finishes, better cup runs and more European football. 2 seasons is absolutely nothing in football. Come back when you've outperformed in 5 more and I will accept we are going in different directions.

"Everton’s interest in appointing Ronald Koeman was considered so unlikely to tempt the Southampton manager that key figures at the club cannot recall there even being a meeting about it. The polite answer being that they would not expect to lose a player to Everton, and certainly not their manager."
It was in this article lol

There is a growing confidence at Southampton that the old order so rudely shaken up by Leicester City is changing for them too. For instance, Everton’s interest in appointing Ronald Koeman was considered so unlikely to tempt the Southampton manager that key figures at the club cannot recall there even being a meeting about it. The polite answer being that they would not expect to lose a player to Everton, and certainly not their manager. It would be no surprise, in fact, if Koeman, with one year left on his deal, were to sign a new contract at Southampton over the next few months.
