Long is Southamptons level, are we looking to progress? If so we cant be swapping Lukaku with Long.

Just to clarify why I'd be gutted if Saints got Emery.

He rescued Valencia after Koeman's time there and took them from 2 points off relegation to 6th, 3rd, 3rd.

People seem to like to talk about winning 3 consecutive Europa league titles as if it's just a 'good' achievement. That is an INCREDIBLE achievement all whilst having his best players sold each year and operating on a huge negative spend.

I'm not sure i'd care much about not winning an away game all season if it meant finishing 7th and winning a European cup.

And he seems a touch mental about football which I like, i'd rather having some animation on the touchline than the arms folded, look of utter bemusement that we had with Martinez.



But i'm happy with Koeman.

Have to trust that we did everything we could to get Emery and he decided no. If he turns up at Southampton I will be gutted because it will mean that's not the case. I will be surprised based on what's been said if he does turn up there.

Have to laugh at people still trying to be ITK by guessing when it'll be sealed etc. It's obvious that it's a foregone conclusion.

That's simply not true. FdB came under criticism during his second season. Too defensive minded according to most. Overmars has faced criticism probably from the day he was appointed. Not saying it was/is right or wrong, deserved or undeserved, but please stay with the facts.

So you're saying for 4-5 seasons most fans didnt want FDB as he was too defensive and for 4 years Oveemars has been criticised?

Thats definitely not what i heard. I can see you're Dutch so if you're saying that the fans wanted FDB sacked (or most of them) for 4-5 seasons then why has it not come up in the foreign media prior to when i stated? It may have done but i was given a different time frame.

Why would Overmars be criticised when he joined? He was a former star for them? Again,i was told it was much later than 2012.

Surely if the majority of fans wated both out for 4+ seasons action would have been taken...

Thing is his record with Southampton is between simple stabilisation and getting on the verge of something more than that.

Yes it does sound a bit like Moyes in some ways but just as Moyes promised something more without really achieving it, Ronald seems like he will be a manager less phased by the big time (witness his results for Southampton against the top sides) and more likely to be able to spend Moshiris millions effectively than perpetual underdog Moyes

He was a top player of course but i dont think his standing as a manager would be high enough to attract top players....

Highly doubt we'd sign anyone of stature until we have a DOF in place tbh.
