It puzzles me how all of a sudden finishing sixth matters when for years we were there or thereabouts and we got no credit for it. We'd finish above spurs year on year but they'd get talked up. Now Southampton finished there it's an achievement. It'll be seen as a failure again if we do it next season you watch.

Did Liverpool finish in the top 6? One year they were 8th. Small club?

Exactly the same with Spurs. They were flirting with relegation only a few seasons back under Juande Ramos, every bit as awful as us last season. Nobody was saying it was the end of the world for them.

We have had two sickening seasons under a manager appointed under the old regime who was clearly and utterly out of his depth, much to the enjoyment of the media.

This stuff is nauseating.

Brian Clough had the measure of the likes of Motson. I would have thought he had been around long enough to see the wood from the trees.

Evidently, drinking drug laced vomit is the new ride for pundits and old commentators.
