It's either this or the DoF theory surely. Alan Irwin @ Sky was probably right when he reported last Friday that this would take up to 7 days to resolve, I thought that was a pessimistic assessment at the time, clearly not.

I can't think why it would be the case, but perhaps Southampton were being unduly obstinate during the negotations and we made some form of gentleman's agreement with them on the timing of the confirmation. (the "face-saving" theory).

Only other thing I can think of now is Koeman's holiday. I think he is returning to the UK on Monday, can anyone confirm? If so, they might just have decided that they will announce and do the press conference in short order on his return.
 
I imagine the contract details for his backroom staff are being finalised along with who stays and goes on the EFC side.

It will be the director of football that is holding the deal up.

Wouldn't make any sense to bring koeman in without them if they were essentially going to be doing the transfer business for him. Otherwise they would get to july 1st and be like, what do we do now? Ask Ronald?

Who the DOF is will be the thing i look forward to, Monchi is too good to be true let's be honest, as long as it isn't commoli then we should be fine.

to be honest if you had said 5 years ago that ronald koeman and marc overmars were our management team you would be made up with that.

i just hope Overmars is actually good at the job if it's him. Good negotiator but little track record of brokering transfer deals on the scale we would need them,
