Irrespective of all this Koeman was first choice nonsense , Pellegrini was actually target number 1.
He turned us down because after managing Real Madrid he said he couldn't handle the massive pressure of running another gigantic football club.
He won't stoop to Southampton though, I mean c"mon.
 

That kid on the Southampton page (and I say kid because he rambles on like a 14 year old girl) reads of desperation, all of these scenarios and bad decisions made by a terrible manager who is out for himself, even the fitness coach and his brother have been roped in and conned into agreeing moves away from the lovely Southampton, yet none of them actually want to go to Everton, as he says 'why would they' and he got all this info while having a coffee out shopping ffs, think it was more over a bottle of white storm round the back of weatherspoons
 
Southampton fans saying the players hate him - I saw an interview with Davis on the last day of the season - he expressly said that the players absolutely love playing for him. If he was disliked then why go out of your way to say that? Results have backed it up too. We have seen with our own eyes what a team does when the respect for the manager has gone.

it was common knowledge that Mane and Tadic fell out with him earlier this season

then again, being universally liked as a manager is not always required
