The thing about the market for us, and what is actually rather odd in next manager markets.. is that we could do a double whammy and announce the sacking AND the new appointment at the same time.
The usual forming of a proper market may not actually happen this time IMO.

....the book is open now, you don't have to wait until RM leaves his post to back the next Everton manager.

This lads available, and finished an impressive 2nd in the league this season

Forest Green Rovers manager Ady Pennock sacked

The football club manager has been sacked despite the side finishing 2nd in the table.

The club say:

"Forest Green Rovers have made the difficult decision to part company with manager Ady Pennock ahead of the National League play offs after a run of seven games without a win.

"Despite finishing the regular season in second place, Rovers missed out on automatic promotion after recording just one win during the final two months of the season leading up to Saturday’s remaining fixture against Dover Athletic."

Ady Pennock was appointed in November 2013.

The Ipswich born one time Gillingham defender led the club to a record highest finish in his first full season in charge - leading Rovers to a 5th place finish in the 2014-15 campaign.

This year the side missed out on automatic promotion after losing 1-0 and 2-0 in the play off semi finals against eventual promotion winners Bristol Rovers.

“it was a difficult decision just a week out from the play-offs after Ady had taken us to our highest placed finish in the National League.

“However, as a club we felt we needed to make this change, in order to give us the best chance of succeeding in the play offs.

“We thank Ady for his efforts while at the club and wish him well in the future.”

It looks like a blip though considering the rest of his record

Does it? At Benfica he finished third in what is essentially a three team league after they had won the league the season before, and his only success was their version of the Charity Shield. At Southampton despite having a lot of money he hasn't really progressed them beyond what Pochettino did, except (as you say) to get them into the Europa - but they were abject there and didn't qualify for the knockout stage.

So his record basically boils down to his achievements in Holland, nearly all of which happened ten (or more years) ago.

I just don't see how he gets onto a shortlist of managers if we are looking to considerably upgrade that position.

Oh i know mate. I'm already involved.
I'm just saying its not the usual established market, which, once someone does know something will be an indicator of who's in the running.

....yep, only a few bookies are playing at the moment but the market can be a good indicator.

Tbf all de boer has on his managerial cv is success in holland as well. Hard to tell who the next appointment should be they all have successes as well as question marks

Well yes, but at least his success is recent and he doesn't have obvious (and in the Valencia case, utterly glaring) failures on his record. I can see why people would suggest him, but I can't see why anyone would suggest Koeman after looking at what he has done as a manager.

I think people want a manager who has prem experience, plus they probably feel if he can get 7th/8th with saints then he could improve on that with our "best squad in 20 years"

Well, if we are saying that Premier League experience and getting to 7/8th place are the key criteria then surely Moyes is much more qualified than he is?

Also, given the "best squad in 20 years" bit that you mention, I again point out that he took a team that had four or five Spain internationals, who would go on to win the EC that summer and the WC two years later, and who had finished third the season before (and sixth the season after) to the brink of relegation. They would have gone down if he had not been sacked.

I wasnt adovacting for him just explaining what peoples line of thought most likely was. They probably are assuming if he could get to 7th with soton then he could get us higher since we have a "better squad"

Im using the quotations as i dont think our roster is as boss as some like to think. Rom, ross, stones, and del are bright young stars but we have quite a few players who are good but reaching the downturn of their career or just average.
