It's not glib. It's the truth.

There is no attainable manager out there who is not a gamble. There is no one who is a guaranteed success. We need to look forward and stop picking boring, uninspiring, proven to be unsuccessful managers out of fear.
At the risk of say relegation? For all Arteta's credentials as a player and as an assistant, there is zero evidence to suggest that he would be successful here.

For a club of Everton's stature and history, that for me is a gamble that I simply wouldn't be happy taking at least not at this time and the current situation.

The likes of Howe or Rafael are not what I truly want, at least not in the long-term, yet they offer a greater likelihood of safety and success than an untested Arteta.

Someone - Not a chance, get real ffs

Mourinho - Not coming here

Moyes - Finished

Arteta - Not managed a single game of decent level football in his life

Wenger - Did poorly in his last few years at the much bigger Arsenal

Howe - Bournemouth regularly spanked for a 4 or 5 every couple of months
wenger won the fa cup twice & fought for Europe in his last few season ..His teams become soft as the years went on no doubt but his record is still superior to anything of ours over recent years

If we are selecting the next manager based on a fear of relegation then we may as well fold and cease to exist.

The mentality you're speaking of is part of the reason why we've become a joke.

No, the fact we've lost four in four including defeats to Aston Villa, Sheffield United and Burnley and our horrendous play is why I am concerned about our position.

Okay, let's go for Arteta and say if he did not steady the ship and we did not win some of the next four games (West Ham, Brighton, Watford and Spurs) then what?

The delusion from fans on here expecting the club to go after Mourinho and Simeone is sad to see.

Are you that disconnected from the realities of top flight football and our place within it that you convince yourself that these type of appointments are possible?

Well it ain't gonna happen so wake up and smell the coffee.

The probable reality is Silva will be given more time. If results don't improve as we approach xmas the reality of a relegation fight may force the clubs hand.

It's all hearsay though. None of you know.

If it does come to that there will be a manager somewhere capable of taking up the reigns. Please don't demand Mourinho or Simeone though. It's kinda cringe worthy.

We'd have to give them longer. As would be the case with anyone we bring in.

Are you seriously suggesting we should sack a manager after 4 games?

I don't understand your point. You're talking like there are managers out there who are guaranteed successes who would win our next 4 without an issue. Who are these people?

No not at all, I was simply asking what would you believe should happen if we did appoint Arteta and say he lost those four games? If he did not improve us?

My point is that you're saying everyone is a gamble, yet people are happy to idyllically ignore that fact that certain managers would quite clearly be less so.

Arteta has never managed a football club or shown he can do win matches at the top level; he may succeed or he may be worse than Silva - a big gamble.

Rafael or Howe are a gamble like you rightfully say; yet, one has won multiple trophies across his career and the other has brought a club up and kept them there.

So in a layman's terms: nobody guarantee success, but some are more likely to hence why we have odds. For me, personally, Arteta is a massive risk.

In fact, he's not even the sole assistant manager at City as they have Kidd and someone else. What about Meulensteen, McLaren or Mike Phelan?

Sad to see? I don't care if we're Norwich City. I expect the club to go after the best possible candidate, especially if they're available and work their way from there.

What would be sad to see, is the club not even try because we are little Everton.

Mourinho wants to stay in the Premier League and is available. So there is a chance, however small that we could get him.

Whats the point of spunking hundreds of millions on transfer fees, agents, a brand new stadium on the docks, only to show no ambition when it comes to the most important part... Appointing a good manager.

He has stated in the past we are a club he would be interested in managing, however if the Spurs/Arsenal jobs come up for grabs the pull of London would attract him there I would think, personally I would love him here, he would bring a whole new mentality to us,I think you would see a sea change in the attitude of Officials and the media towards us also.
