I doubt we’re near end game yet.
The pattern (which we are sadly growing accustomed to) is;

Shortlist of realistic candidates
Extended shortlist
No longer shortlist
Excitingly unrealistic candidate emerges and everyone goes nuts
Terrifying ‘Alan Pardew or equivalent emerges panic ensues
Safe option from original shortlist is hired
Everyone is relieved but underwhelmed

Personally I'd love to see us bring Rangnick in. He's a real visionary and manager clubs from top to bottom, in a similar way to Moyes but probably a bit more creative. He would get along well with Brands and I'm sure they'd be on the same page.

It would also leave a space open for Ferguson to probably take a more hands on role. Rang nick has been good at developing coaches and I think Ferguson needs to be utilised better. What we saw on Saturday is not a million miles away from how Leipzig try to play. There's a lot of talent in Ferguson but Rangnick can probably help him develop.

So yes that would be my first choice I think.

It's a strange appointment isn't it. Of all the names listed he's pretty near the bottom, and you are right, I'd have Moyes over him as well.

We rejected him for Martinez 6 years ago (wrongly in my opinion) but his career appears to have really bombed since then.

What concerns me is that it smacks of Moshiri and favours to agents. It worries me as I am not sure it's the best way to run a football club, thats not to say it's not worth keeping agents sweet but you also have to have a central approach.

I'll always get behind a manager, but I am not sure he's anywhere near the optimum candidate. I'd even go as far as saying his CV is less impressive than when Silva arrived.

If it comes to pass, it's a Kenwright appointment approved by Moshiri. That means Brands is sidelined.

We all knew Martinez was getting the job when Moyes left and it seemed to me at the time that Pereira and Rangnick were interviewed just for the sake of imitating a process.

It can't be a coincidence these are now linked again and it does seem Pereira is favourite. You're right, it suggests agents are driving this which cannot ever mean that the club's best interests are the prime consideration.

We need to get at least a full three year contract out of the next manager so by that yardstick alone, and there are plenty of others, we shouldn't even consider this guy.
