Because few things actually stay "under the rug"If the league could barbecue Chuckie to save themselves some headache, they'll do it every time. The only question is really exactly what headache they've truly saved themselves? That's what I can't quite figure out. How does a public execution for something that had been swept under the rug to that point help them out?
Don't forget the NFLs willingness to let Dan Snyder's actions slide. The league can only get sued into the hinterlands so many times before they want no part of this and will GLADLY let Gruden hang for it. And after settling with Kaepernick to avoid public disclosure of exactly this sort of stuff, they had to take a front-line stance on the social justice stuff.
Well they can't very well do that and then have a head coach lobbing skunks into the elevator, now can they?
The best alternative they had was to scapegoat Gruden. Doesn't cost the shield and we know that's all they truly care about. There's no loyalty among that pack of jackals.

AFC champions not looking so certain. Think everyone was just expecting the Chiefs to remain dominant this year. Their record could even be worse as they were lucky to pick up a win against the Browns on the opening day. Even the Eagles ran them close enough until late.
Bills obviously looking good, also the Chargers. Both Allen and Herbert are the real deal. Still hoping the Browns can be there near the end. They just seem to struggle when it comes to converting dominance. Defence is sound, but Mayfield is not showing much when it comes to final drives - they had 1.31 on the clock with the Chargers in trouble having missed the PAT. But for some reason they tried to run the ball continuously and gained only a handful of yards which took too much time. They were left with a hit and hope hail mary by the end, when a better QB would've found receivers on the touchline to move the chains and stop the clock. Refs were awful though, missed a number PI fouls.
Let’s see the same happen to Deshaun Watson then.Because few things actually stay "under the rug"
His behavior was reprehensible, whether stated among "friends" or in a locker room or on TV. He had to go.
He’s one of them, obviouslyDon't forget the NFLs willingness to let Dan Snyder's actions slide.
Throw Robert Kraft into the mix as well.Don't forget the NFLs willingness to let Dan Snyder's actions slide.
'miss' you say? they miss nothing, instructions come directly from the Command Centre in New York, and the outcomes are exactly as the league requires them to be.refs seems to get worse every year, they miss blatant stuff and then make bs calls
There's definitely some match fixing going on, right?'miss' you say? they miss nothing, instructions come directly from the Command Centre in New York, and the outcomes are exactly as the league requires them to be.
I bet he's got some skeletons in his closet. In fact the majority of the owners like him and Jerry Jones look like colonial slave ownersThrow Robert Kraft into the mix as well.
There is no way he lasts 20 years in the locker room in the league being a racist

I find the whole Gruden thing so hypocritical. He's fired for making a slur years ago. Meanwhile there are constantly players up and down the league that have been charged with more serious offences (domestic violence, drug abuse, rape, criminal damage, carrying firearms etc). And yet somehow after the dust settles on such incidents, the players are back in the game and all is forgiven.
Just to name a few:
Richard Shearman - arrested on a DUI and domestic violence. Crashed his car and tried to break into his wife's parents house...free agent then picked up by the Buccs
Marshon Lattimore - arrested on possession of a stolen gun
Rashard Higgins & Jedrick Willis - Drag racing in main city streets
Melvin Gordon - DUI
Antonio Brown - Assault and battery. Free agent the picked up by the Buccs.
Kareem Hunt and Tyreek Hill were both charged with domestic abuse / battery to women, the latter punching and choking his pregnant girlfriend...yet both did not serve any jail time and were picked up by the Browns and Chiefs in wake of the incidents.
These are just a few of the more notable names, there are hundreds of cases over the last 20 years. NFL turns a blind eye to this stuff all the time.
The show must go on eh?
