Think he'd keep the ball far safer than that tbh
This is really much more about the overrating of Purdy than anything. It doesn't matter how many mistakes Johnson makes for me, Purdy is capable of doing as bad. The 49ers needed to win this by taking the QB out of it and they can't because they're getting killed up front.

You lose your QB, in game like this sucks. There is really no other team sport that relays so much on one player/position. Tough on the 49ers.

KC my be without Kelce. So what. They still have their main guy front and center, 100% fit as he was never injured. The second game will be the best of the day .

Kelce is at least going to play to start. How it goes once he's getting hit is another story.

It's not overrating him, he's kept the ball safe. Saying that it makes no difference that they have this jobber at QB instead of the lad who has taken them to 8 wins in a row and knows the playbook inside out is absolutely mad
Purdy is a jobber lol

He turned the ball over on his 3rd dropback today too.

Who knows the playbook inside out, has thrown at least two touchdowns in almost every game and has been undefeated in every one of his starts.

Josh Johnson is a significant downgrade, and these games have fine margins. If you can't see that, then I can't help you
I've watched Purdy the last two weeks and he's just not all that good. I don't believe he's a difference maker. If you're getting blown out without him you'd be getting blown out with him.

Two absurdly strong defenses on display here. There's a reason the QBs are struggling - they're facing elite defenses using complex coverages and powerful pass rushers.

It's no coincidence both the Eagles and the 49ers have turned to their running games to move down the field and score - this approach allows your OL to take initiative and attack the DL, rather than in passing situations where the OL has no choice but to sit back and try to withstand the DL attacking them.

Okay, last attempt.

You're in a hypothetical divisional championship game against a team you are roughly comparable to in terms of quality and ability. Which quarterback do you take?

a) A guy who has played about 8 times in 10 years who you just elevated from the practice squad

b) The guy who knows your playbook, practices every week with the first team squad, and with whom you have won the last 8 games with

I know it's tough, but give it a go. A or B?
