NFL 2024 Season

Tomlin spent ~five years with the Bucs and I've always thought of him as the "one that got away" for the Bucs. Probably one of just a small handful of coaches I really respect.

I understand the "pop culture" take on Wilson. Maybe he is washed. I guess we're about to find out. Fields is 22nd by overall yards and yds/game (behind six QBs who have played less games than him!) ... one spot ahead of Bo Nix, two ahead of (but with Thsimilar stats) Deshaun Watson and three ahead of Gardner Minshew (who played one less game). He's below his replacement in Chicago too.

I don't think Wilson is that good ... I think he's like 20-25 range for QBs. I just don't see (other than age and maybe he gets better) how Fields is this massively obvious better option for winning today. Are these the same people who insisted Mayfield was bad? Did these people have Geno Smith leading the QBs in yds/game this year?

If he wins will we see these people admit they were wrong (as we haven't seen them do with any of their other errors)?
The Steelers have no weapons and Arthur Smith at OC - the last few games we've really seen Fields do what he's paid to do - just run the football when nobody is open and grind out offense that way. And he's not turning the ball over.

He is also 4 and 2

There is no reason to fix what ain't broken, and certainly not with a guy that was benched last season for Jarrett Stidham

I get it if Steelers are 2 and 4.

This makes absolutely no sense no matter which way we slice it.

I'm with you, I just don't understand what Russ has done in the last 2 seasons to even give someone the slightest indication he's going to be a competent NFL QB again. It's not like they can even say he looks good in practice. He's barely had any!

So in short: I'm fully behind this move. Good call Mike!
